Correct me if i'm wrong, but does most of Prime, feel like... a filler? That whenever this is a story arc that is begining it resorts to filler as a segway into another unrelated plot then at the last minute finishes the current arc to switch to a filler arc and then another plot point followed by filler?

You're making my head spin like my avy. :D

No, really, I'm just enjoying the eps as aired...they don't seem disjointed to me...I just try and remember that between eps in the TFP world some amount of time has usually passed between episodes and so it's not like one day or week follows the rest. Then again, I may not understand your meaning.

Honestly, I feel that the episodes are out of order or something...

    Yes. I think.

It seems like there's a lot of unrelated and uneeded plot threads hanging around, yes. Most glaring of which is MECH. There's too many factions, too many subplots and no resolution.

Okay, I've heard others say that before, that one episode maybe should have been aired after another...so yeah, I can see why you'd feel that way.

Was it tonite's ep?? Or others??

I think this show got too complicated too fast, and now has to juggle all this stuff going on, and yet still seems to want to keep it all very acceptably basic.

I don't know if filler is the right word, but there are a shit ton of story arcs being juggled around. PRIME is the episode of the week for me and things don't necessarily tie in all that well. But the individual episodes are pretty good so I'm enjoying myself.

That seems to be one of the problems. Every other episode the plot is based on some magical Cybertronian object which barely moves the plot forward at all. Plus, the entire 7 episodes of Unicron + Orion Pax didn't even move the show forward, except for new locations for said magical Cybertronian objects. I'm not sure what main plot this show is trying to do.

I'd still feel more than happy with PRIME if the writers ended up going back and using all of these stories they've set up. If we end up never seeing any of these Cybertronian artifacts or even Unicron again, well that's going to suck.

This is the problem with Orci & Kurtzman. They love to make things convoluted and come up with contrived endings that just barely tie things together, but always leave one or two loose ends, ya know, jus' 'cause.

Plenty of filler in season 1 and 2. They go overboard with it on Hawaii Five-0.

They are producers not writers on the show. They do not have a part in the creative process of prime.

I don't see them as fillers, I see them as stories that haven't been told before in the Transformers fiction.

I don't think MECH is unrelated. I think it's going to be the focus of the current season (in-between any filler episodes). I also think they've done a great job of moving MECH forward with each appearance.

That said, I have no interest in MECH.

"Filler" implies that they are stretching out episodes between major events. The issue with Prime is that its major events are not "major". The set up may sound intense, but the only resolution to every major Prime arc is the cementing of the status quo. There aren't really filler episodes because the whole series is filler until the next live-action movie.

Prime is "safe". Nothing really happens. The episodes aren't really connected outside the occasional multiparter. Basically, it's G1 with better animation... and less characters... and less fun.

They're executive producers. They don't personally write the actual episodes, but they have at least some responsibility for the actual overall story crafting. The whole reason they are doing this show is to do the things they weren't able to do in the films for whatever reasons.

*grimace* "Stand alone story" does not equal "filler", and the entire fucking internet would do well to realize the distinction between the two.
