Anyone else feel Hasbro's 'shopped package photos don't do the toy justice?

^ What I said. I ask this because I really wasn't all that enthused about the TF:p rime figures based on the photos I'd seen of them released. Those nasty, bleached and (airbrushed?) photos on the back of the card do them a disservice.

Seeing them in person (I think Cliffjumper or Wheeljack was the first I'd seen with my own eyes) is a world of difference. The only one I wanted was possibly Ratchet but seeing Cliff, WJ, Soundwave, Hot Shot, Vehicon, etc made me change my tune real quick.

Most of the time the disservice is the most inane posing and embarrassing misstransformations. Not the shoop job.

Personally I find it amazing that the amateur pictures in the cool stuff threads make Hasbro's 'professional' pictures look amateurish.

Even TF Ride Evac is a bit mistransformed on the back of his card. His waist guns aren't flipped down.

Pretty much this, which I find really strange because of how large a role those photos play in selling the product. Like, a rule of thumb that I've always gone by with these kind of photos is to make the photo look better than the product, but without needing to look like its doing that, and Hasbro typically fails at one, if not both of these rules on a regular basis.

    That too.

    Yeah, exactly.

The reason why the shooping bugs me even more than the mistransformations is because it washes out the color and generally looks less shiny than it sometimes is. Or they pick the worst angles to photograph the figure in (Barricade for instance...I was convinced RotF/DotM Barricade was this barrelchested, like G1 80s widechested nearly but when I got him on a whim and transformed him and was surprised at how much more narrow he is. Sideways and Dead End I thought the same).

Yeah, if it wasn't for Transformersuniverse (and later TF2005 when I found it and joined), I would probably have half the collection I have so far because I wouldn't have been able to see what they're really like.

They should hire of the TFW2005 photographers to do the stock photos.

I think the mistransformations do them less justice. And plus most of the time the package photos are photoshopped to make them look better.

If a TFW member was allowed to do the shots, they'd review the figure before it was even officially announced.
