Got to the hotel tonight, hotel is super nice but the area around the hotel reminds me alot of the hotel location in cincinatti...but worse... Not looking forward to the $50 cab rides to go and find things to do.

That's what I was afraid of as far as surrounding places. Luckily we're driving in, so it shouldn't be a problem. See you Wednesday as well.

DART trains at Union station run the red and blue lines from there. Bit cheaper to get around. Should be food along the way.

DART.org - DART Rail System Map

That map is not to scale though.

Tomorrow, try taking the Blue or Red line to Pearl Station. The Plaza of the Americas is right there. Inside there is an ice rink along with several fast food places and two or three restaurants.

Hopefully they are better than the cabs :)  Both times we got in a cab we had extra $4 charges. We just got off of airport property and had beggers already. Pasadena every year doesn't sound so bad anymore :)

Yea it's seams like nothing is around us, pasadena was a billion times better than this place aswell as being stuck on disney property.

Which air port did you come in from? DFW has a DART line that goes right to the hotel. (Well, the station thats right there anyway.) Some of the stations can get a little uncomfortable with beggars, but usually if you tell them you don't have any change they just move on. They are used to that response. I edited my above post, I remembered where there are several places to eat right by a Dart Station.

The hotel is a little isolated from the rest of downtown, but its really not hard to get anywhere for less than two bucks. IIRC, the Dart ticket should last you a whole day too.

Oh, and when you get on a train, make sure its going in the right direction.. sounds obvious but its a little annoying to discover you are going in the opposite direction. (Yeah I've done it. :dunce )

I think once you get into downtown proper, it will be pretty easy to find places to eat.. there's a lot of them.

Yeah there's also that. Those are probably closer than what I suggest, but I know that the Plaza is right by that Pearl Station so it's easy to access. *shrug*

West End and the tunnels are where some of the restaurant are at. That should be a couple blocks north of where you are at.

Dallas downtown was dead when I lived there four years ago. It's because of the zoning laws. All the little towns surround Dallas and have stunted it's potential for growth.

Hmm, good to hear the hotel is nice in any case. I've lived a couple of blocks from Mosside in Manchester so hopefully I can handle the roughness.

Important question - are there any Targets or Walmarts nearby?
