So I really only want the weapons that come with the G3 trailer and thought about buying one, using the weapons to create molds and casting a bunch of unpainted blanks for myself and others. But before I do, thought I'd check here....
-Is anybody already doing this? If so, can I just buy a set from you?
-Does anybody have a weapons set they wouldn't mind lending?
-Would anybody else be interested in buying unpainted recasts of these weapons?

May I suggest you use clear resin? It would look really nice.
    Its a pity I don't collect classics/henkei/universe

Have you tried contacting Fans Project to see if selling just the weapons was a possibility?

I think with the number of people getting into casting, that we are getting into a gray area of legality and ethics.

It would be different if you designed the weapons, built them out of styrene or had them RP'd, and then made castings. I assume the trailer is still being sold, so as is, it seems pretty unethical to do this. If the trailer was no longer being offered, or Fans Project went out of business, I could possibly see it different.

I may be alone on this, but it just doesn't seem right.

FansProject also visits the forums here. So its something they might contact you about and ask to stop. Plus, if you just want the weapons, you can always just buy the TFC Toys Gear of War set. Also, recasting others works might stop other fans from thinking about offering their own custom parts. Like Makoto/Macraptron, who is sculpting G1 style heads for Classics figures. Seeing other board members recast parts of available items, could make him think someone will recast his work, and stop the rest of us from being able to own one.

And here I was hoping this was something about casting MORE weapons for my G3 trailer..

I'd love to have it packed with even more weapons to hand out to Prime's classic buddies.. :)

I still say.. Make your own weapons adapted to fit into the G3 trailer, like fans project makes the trailer adapted for hasbro's prime..

And then cast them.. I like weapons

That seems like a nice compromise.

Thanks for the great advice all- I'll start with contacting FP and look more into the GOW set... definitely don't want to hurt FP or infringe on any copyrights, just thought this would be a cool way to practice mold casting... I'll see what other options I have.
