So yesterday i was on the TF Source website figuring out how much I was gonna spend on a few items. I was going to pre-order the Bruticus add on as I had just won a Target ROTF set on Ebay.

I also was going to get the Snowman version of Superion as I picked up a Energon Superion Maximus at a used toy store for $9.99!

Well yesterday the Snowman kit was still $49.95, today it is $69.95!!!

2009 Stocking Stuffer Campaign - Snowman Version - Superion Add-on Kit

    WTF!!!!!

    A $20 price increase?

Was the $49.95 a sale price that I didn't know about, did it cost $69.95 when it first came out? Anybody?

They're probably just ramping up the price to squeeze as much money out of the remaining 44 units they have left in stock. The snowman kit is exclusive to TFsource, so they can pretty much charge whatever they please.

If you were a retailer with a popular exclusive that had a low running stock, would you just clear it out or try to make a profit?

I understand what you are saying, however TFS is more of a retailer for Transformers fans. You would think that they would want to not screw us over to keep us buying their "exclusive" products. I for example was planning on pre-ordering the Bruticus add on kit at the same time. Now I am not sure. I am a little annoyed.

Those are people with bills to pay, families to feed, and debts to pay off. It's a business and I personally can't fault them for raising the price on the remaining exclusive stock. Personally, I value my bills, family, and debts over being a 'service' to a community.

Say what you want about them, but it's not any worse than the ridiculous price gouging BBTS does. It's, at most, par for the course.

I'm not really saying anything bad about them, I was just annoyed at the fact that Monday $50, Tuesday Bamm! $70. It's a big price hike in a matter of several hours.

I guess if nothing else it would be nice maybe if they are planning on raising prices they would let customers know. I know a lot of online sites will put things like price valid until such and such a date on a item listing.

Honestly this would bring in revenue in big rushes on the expiration dates as customers would want to try and get the deal before it expires. Wouldn't that be good for business too? Rather than up the price and have sales slowly trickle in for the next couple of months?

I feel it's a lot better situation to be in to know you've got until a certain date than to come back and be surprised and may not be able to afford something than.

Just my opinion though. Will probably have to wait now on this and may miss out on it completely.

Yeah, I tried that. I e-mailed them and asked if I could still get the cheaper price. Apparently I am not the only person who noticed and e-mailed them. Here is the e-mail I received back:

Unfortunately we can't, as at $49.95 we're pretty much losing money on the
piece, and originally intended to retail it for $70 all this month and last.
Even at the new price, we'll sell out in a week or so, this will soon be a
piece worth $200+ and offered it at the holiday sale period for quite long
for fans to take advantage of.

We also had a half dozen other similar emails today, and it is what it is.
We always suggest everyone to preorder and order early, as once stock gets
low the prices always go up. There are also very few pieces we don't sell
out of, so keep that in mind for future purchases. It's pretty crazy we
didn't raise the price significantly already, and at the rate we're selling
at, even at $100 we'll sell out in 2 weeks.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Curt

Looks like I will give BBTS my business for the Bruticus add on - Thanks TF Souce, Thanks for the scalper pricing. I don't mind spending almost $100 for the Bruticus set because you get two new figures plus the add ons...For Superion it's just the add-ons...definitely not worth $100 plus shipping

I tried 3 times to order from them, can't though as the site just crashes constantly.
    They should make more...
If they know it will be popular.

You had your chance. you had your chance for a long time. like they said, as stock goes down, prices go up. bbts does this too.

and it's funny you bring up scalper pricing, and then pledge your support for bbts, a company that is well known to be actual scalpers, clearing out stores in their area of all exclusives and rare items, only to put them on the website for double, triple, or even higher prices, screwing over all the local collectors.

I also wanted it, but I didnt order it in time, and now I cannot afford it, so I won't be getting it. am I mad at TFsource? no. I know I'm to blame. I had around two months to order it at 50 dollars, and I didnt. nobody's fault but mine.

Great reply. I was about to reply, but you did the work for me. I would like to add that the "Snowman Version" is a much more limited release to the original version. As you said, "as stock goes down, prices go up". With a limited release, the price increase is to be expected. Plus, this is their exclusive. They can price it whatever they want.

This happens every time this time of year to various items. Remember the price hike on City Commander?
