They are always painted, and detailed up, then photoshoped to hell and back with bloom and filters. Then we eventually see the real product that will be coming out, and it looks nothing like what the promo shots promised. Some new examples of this are right up on the front page with Rampage and Breakaway for the ROTF line.

Seriously, how does this nice grey looking plane go from this....

    ....to this? Are they high?

I dunno. Its not a huge problem so much as its just an annoyance since we find out what they really look like eventually and we can make up our minds after that. I try not to pay any attention to their promo shots of anything anymore.

Is it even their fault though, or is it just a marketing department thing? I dunno. Its just as bad as the people that steal the toys off the chinese production lines, who take millions of terrible blurry pictures from every angle possible, and cant pose or transform anything for shit. Hahaha.

They don't go from photoshop to toy, it's toy to photoshop. I guess trying to make the toy more attractive, so you'll be like, "IT'S TEH AWESOME" and buy it, and then may or not be disappointed by the real thing.

I don't like the promo pics either, especially when they're our first look at a toy. I want to see what it will look like when I have it in front of me. Some toys are good, some are bad.

Keep in mind, those initial images aren't meant for us, they aren't trying to wow the general public. Those photos are produced for retailers to impress them and get them to carry a toy series, it's marketing ploy. Once the toy's ordered for retailers, then the more accurate, un-shopped shots come out for online retailers and news sites.

The promo pictures look like Premiums to me. Look for them in the future.

And yet the photoshopped image ends up on the box for all to see in stores.

I kinda like the crazy Photoshopping.

That and I don't see it as false advertising. More like challenges to the Radicons. ^_~

Which is great if one has the skills, paint and hardware but most don't.

I actually returned Vector Prime to Walmart because the paint job looked nothing like what was on the box.

You saw VP at WalMart? I can't find him... he seems shortpacked.

Promo pics are promo pics. Once you know this you use the pictures just for item construction and general coloration, then leave the rest of it alone.
