I first learned about this one on the Ngee Khiong blog, usually about Gundam, but he has Transformers up there a bit.

Looks good the beast mode compared to the first released Beast Wars figure. I had that one and I loved it. The only thing that urks me is the tail whip/club. Where is a gun? Cheetor needs SOME long ranged combat capability...

But overall, I'm loving the new look. Is anyone else looking forward to this release?

Not really. The one thing about the orignial BW figures is they offered a lot of articulation (esp compared to G1) just to make an animal/insect transform into a robot. Will I get it... maybe.

Eh, I'm going to have to see this one in person before I really decide if I like it. I definently like the beast mode as it's an improvement over the original. On the other hand... for some reason I'm not feeling the robot mode too much myself.

The whip weapon I can get behind because it's a nice homage to his first Transmetal form (he had a tail whip in that form too and fired energy beams from his cat mouth/combined hands in robot mode) and I've read online that he's supposed to have swords too (a homage to his BM form) though I've not seen any pics of these. But, I do agree, it would be nice if he were to get a gun as well...

Well, a Universe Deluxe Class listing titled 'Dinobot' has shown up in Wal-Mart (I believe it was Wally World) store computers. Combine that with some guys on Hasbro's design team stating that Dinobot and Blackarachnia were on their 'to do list' for Universe if they could get 'beasts' past the higher ups at last years Botcon and I think we at least have one more Beast Wars character coming (and, one whom definently needs a better toy too...).

I'm looking forward to seeing better pictures of it. The ones we've seen the beat mose looks great but the robot mode looks pretty mistransformed. I could be wrong though.

From the bit of pics we've seen of him, he doesn't seem to offer much more than the original Cheetor anyway... not an 'improvement' just a lateral move. But could just be poorly posed figure in the photo, that wouldn't be anything new. Will I get? Probably, it's just ~$10 and is a new mold.

I have to see him up close, cant really decide yet from the pictures. Looks cool but from what I've seen so far but I think I prefer the original mold but again need to see more and preferably in person to make a more definite judgment.

    Ditto.

Don't get me wrong, I dig Cheetor but from what I've seen so far of the Classics version he seems like the original BW toy with an updated sculpt. Guess I'll wait to see him on the shelf.

I imagine the shoulders are just mistransformed - that seems like the biggest issue from the pic I've seen.

It's a maybe. I really like the Beast Wars figs at the time, and got quite a number of them, but I admit nowadays I'm more about the mechs. But if it's pulled off well, and there's reasonable articulation in cheetah mode (which was the biggest problem I had with the original mould) then it could well be mine.
