I just learned about a class action lawsuit this morning. It was easy and painless to file my claim, and I'm going to be getting back some money to use for more TFs :)  Basically, if you bought a push or riding mower between 1/1/94 and 4/12/10 you can get $35 back for a push mower or $75 for a riding mower. Notice this class action lawsuit goes into the future two days from now, so maybe this can help one of you get $$$ off of a purchase you have been planning! Either way, I hope I just made you guys a little extra cash for some more bots!

Wow, what a pointless and ridiculous reason for a Class action law suit.

Yeah, got notice in the mail yesterday. Meh, it's a free $110 for me. Got both a riding and a push I'm gonna claim.

What's the origin of this claim? What's wrong with the lawnmowers?

Wow, that's a pretty long time period. I wonder how many lawn mowers people go through within a 16 year time frame? As far as I know, my family has gone through at least 3.

I find this lawsuit a little disgusting. There is nothing wrong with the mowers. No one was injured. They work just fine. This is just a sad way for people grab a quick few bucks. You do realize that while you get $35-$75 or so, the lawyers get a massive check.

So its totally cool for companies to lie and mislead their customers? Yea the horespower of a lawnmower seems a bit trivial to me, but in principle, I think its good to keep companies as honest as possible about the products they sell.

To me there is a difference in saying that the Mower is 25hp and is really 22hp, than saying that a car gets 25mph when it get 18. The mower is used very rarely for only about a hour or so a week and a small difference in hp makes little difference compared to something like a car you use many times a day for several hours a day possibly and use a great deal of gas.

If a mower or two exploded and there was lawsuits about that I'd be fine. But the horsepower of a mower? Seems like a non issue.

They lied to me about the product. That is reason enough to collect $35-$75 in my eyes. How many people based their buying decisions on the advertised H.P. of the named defendants' products? Would they have bought from another manufacturer? We will never know, all we do know is that we were defrauded. Time to get paid.

False statements are false statements regardless, and where do we draw that acceptable line. Lying about 3HP? 4HP? 5HP?

You roll your eyes, but lawsuits help to keep corporations honest. Do frivolous lawsuits exist? Absolutely, but tolerating those lawsuits are worth it when looking at the bigger picture.

Only because this one is an EXTREMELY large class-action suit. I'm getting $75 for a riding mower that is 13 years old and falling apart. That's a score in my book. Though I would love to know the total settlement.

Indeed. I think we bought...2 riders, and 3 push mowers...how much that get me? $150+$105...damn...

But all seriousness, how the hell does this go and allow ANYONE to get this? I mean seriously...I know everyone as Americans are greedy, any money they get is money...but come on...I honestly can give a crap less. I didn't read how many HP it gets, nor did I care.

Yup. No matter how stupid people think it is, the companies were even dumber for putting false facts on marketing material. Don't be a dumb or seedy company and things like this don't happen. Remember this: the same companies that you might feel guilty for taking $35-$70 from, are the same companies that will bone you for even more cash.
