I just recently picked up a Ultra Magnus w/ City Commander upgrade from eBay (can't wait for it to get here!) and was thinking about completing my Fansproject collection by picking up the Superion Crossfire upgrade. I saw Peaugh's review on it and am not quite convinced if I should pick it up.

I've been fantasizing about having Superion and Bruticus as the tall pillars to bookend my collection, but I'm having reservations.

What do you guys think about it? Reviews? Impressions? Thanks!

I did a review on the set a long while ago. I like it...it's a decent set. It improves the original figure dramatically. However, after having him for some time, i ended up selling mine. The biggest reason was because the set didn't give me a real "G1" feel. The new Bruticus set, to me, really say "G1 Bruticus"...with the overall look of him. The Superion set doesn't give me that same feel. As i said, it does improve the existing figure, but that's about it.

    IMO anyways

I agree with optibotimus that the Superion set really does improve the actual figures dramatically. The original figures' gestalt mode is shit and the upgrade makes it decent. The only thing the upgrade doesn't improve is that damn chest of the gestalt's mode. It's still finicky and comes apart easily and I've had two of these damn things (got rid of the first one). If Fanprojects made a replacement central figure that fixed that problem -- even better if they made him look like Silverbolt -- I'd be all over that like white on bleached rice.

I say the regular grey version looks a bit off with the colors, but the snowman white version is AWSOME G1 LOOKING! so the white version is a must have, the reg version is still goo, just not great.

"Process" had some great pics of the 2 versions side by side at some point.

I am still on the fence about buying the fansproject Bruticus set. I really like the look of it but $100 is a bit much for my wallet. That and Fansproject Shadow Commander are on my must buy list right now.. but altogether they'll cost me over $300. Yikes.

It's worth it for $50, but not worth the $200 it's going for now. Even with the kit, he seems floppy. When I had it, the parts kept falling off when I tried to pose him.

I like the Superion kit (regular one) arms are little loose. Without this kit Superion would be wack, But superion looks good with brutty

My issues are less with the FansProject set so much as with the actual Superior set of figures. I don't think the actual combiner is all that hot.

Pretty much what people said. If you can get it for original price ($50 mark) it's well worth it and makes a shitty combiner looks 500x better. However at the going rate I'd think twice!

Where would you be able to find it at the original price? Looks like it's sold out in the usual venues. And I'm not sure if other out in the community would be willing to sell me theirs for $50 when they could easily get 4x the value putting it up on ebay!

Keep the input coming though guys. It's actually a lot of fun and very informative to get all of your thoughts and reviews on it!

I actually started a thread which is intended for those who are interested in a re-issue to state so, and I'm going to forward this list and a link to the actual thread to FansProject in hopes they will respond. Add your name to this thread linked below vvv ASAP if you're interested, as I'm going to begin the process later tonight. Thanks !

Thanks Ceterus for the link. I've gone ahead and posted on that thread.

On a side note, would Fansproject ever decide to re-issue something like Shadow Commander or the Cliffjumper add-on if there were enough people demanding it?

Fansproject did rerelease the City Commander set so it is possible. Hopefully they will add some more weapons/parts with it.

Love the way you posed the arms and not the way the instructions told you to. It looks sooo much better that I now regret not picking up this set. :(

I actually copied that from one of Process' pics. I agree, he looks much better that way...
