I've liked pretty much all of what I've seen to one degree or another, except Destiny. It was hot garbage.

I love Tomino's original U.C. stories, some of the side stories to those, Turn-A Gundam, and G Gundam. Crossbone Gundam looks interesting. I used to love and can still tolerate Gundam Wing. The other stuff isn't so great to me.

Truth. I never got into G Gundam or Seed. I thought 08th Team, Z and Wing were the strongest story wise. 08th's animation of the mobile suits themselves were phenomenal. I have yet to pick up A Stardust Memory and War in the Pocket. For some reason the side stories are always better than the main series. I HOPew they release the original Gundam on DVD. I haven't seen it.

I'm really more of a fan of the Tomino stuff, although I have yet to see Turn A, and the first half of ZZ was very so-so (I do not hate it as much as most Gundam fans seem to though). At this point I've seen all of the Gundam animations except for the last 20 episodes of Victory, Turn A, and Seed Destiny. If I had to rank them (excluding series I haven't seen or finished), I suppose I'd go Zeta, MSG, G-Gundam, CCA, X, 08th MS Team, F91, 0083, 0080, ZZ, Wing and Endless Waltz, Seed.

The only two series I really had big problems with were Seed and Wing. Wing just felt too disjointed, like they tried to cram too many different stories into one series, each one just too similar to something from the UC. And Seed just irked me because it was really just a retelling of the original Gundam story, but paced worse, with just as much reused animation (for shame in this day and age), more clip episodes, and lamer characters. A pity, because there is alot about Seed that I do like, I just feel that all the potential was squandered.

Even worse, Seed also re-used storyboards. you'll see the same scene re-animated over and over with the same camera angle and movements, but the character/MS will change. if they're gonna animate something from scratch, why make the exact scene over and over?

For me, its the UC series...in fact, I'm watching the original MS Gundam TV series right now! Although the animation is kinda outdated, many of its concept was way ahead of its time! Man...I really enjoy the Amuro-Char rivalry!

I watched the Gundams that were on Cartoon Network and enjoyed them, but I never felt like tracking down the other versions of it.

I am really surprised that Gundam has kind of faded from American Pop Culture -it got pretty big here for a while.

If nothing else, I think that Gundams serve as an example how in Japan you can have a single property, Gundam, that itself contains dozens of continuities that may or may not interrelate.

War in the Pocket is a good "short and sweet" series; It's good for killing an hour and a half. I warn you though, it's depressing.

I'm having trouble deciding if 8th MS Team is my fav or is Stardust Memory is. 8th MS Team shows what MS Gurellia warfare is like *think vietnam* and Stardust Memory is very politcal and very military heavy.

I'm still waiting for Bandai US to pony up a complete subtitled release of the original series before I get into Gundam, but gawd help my wallet if they ever do.

you'll never get a "complete" release. Tomino has permanently removed parts of the series.

They apparently managed to get a full set of episodes with original audio out in Japan a few months ago, I should imagine that they would be able to do it in the US if they thought the market was there to make it worthwhile.

Well, in case they don't, there's at least one group that's quietly been fansubbing it.
    Why? :inquisiti

At this point I've pretty much consigned myself to only having fansubs of alot of Gundam. I just have doubts that we'll ever see all of it released over here (however, if it is released, it will be bought post haste). I'm just glad I decided to stop waiting for domestic releases to watch all the series I haven't seen, as there is some really good stuff there.

I'm a huge fan of most of the Universal Century stuff, particularly 08th MS Team and MS Igloo. I've really liked everything else except for Seed and Seed Destiny; even some nifty MS designs couldn't save those pieces of crap.

edit: ooh, forgot to list my second favorite, Gundam X.

08th MS team was awesome. Mu and Murrue made SEED. Well, Mu did anyway, Murrue was just strategically bouncy. I'm halfway through Zeta. It's making me sleep. After I finish my favorite boxing anime, I think I'm gonna try out G Gundam. If super robot dynamics and horrible national stereotypes can't rekindle my interest in Gundam animation, nothing will.

Yes, I can confirm that as I saw a boxset in my country...the packaging looks great but unfortunately, I don't understand Japanese...

By the way, can anyone here PM me towards the direct of getting fan subs for the original MS Gundam TV series...the HK boxset I purchase had terrible subs...as "dated" as the animation is, the series are a must watch for me as it is considered a classic and sorts of builds the foundation for all the later UC series.

Gundam has some really good series, and some pretty bad stinkers. I watched 08th MS Team and loved it, and War in the Pocket was good as well, but depressing. I bought 0083 because of the GP-01 and the GP-03, but Kou ruined the experience for me, the whiney bastard. I saw the movie version of Gundam Seed, and thought that it wasn't half bad. They cut out a lot of the fat in the movie version. Gundam Wing was not too bad, but G Gundam was just awful. Next I'm going to see about tracking down the Zeta movies and CCA.

Blasphemy! I should drag you to the guillotine Victory Gundam style for even suggesting the awsomeness that is Zeta can put a man to sleep.

Just kidding, but I am sad that Zeta is doing that to you, as I do like it the best. You are, however, 100% correct about Mu making SEED. I really need to figure out exactly why I bought that series one of these days...what a waste of money that was. Oh, and G Gundam should do the trick, it's just so off the wall and full of classic super robot cliches you can't help but love it, as long as you can accept it for what it is.
