With the now cheaper DVD 20th Anniv Prime available I'd love to have a black repaint version of MP Prime. I know it's a tough task so I am wondering which of you have done it and would do it again for commission? Thanks and PM me with offers. I'd like to see a finished work of yours first.

Optimus Scourge has one, I'm pretty sure he had it made but I forget by whom. I'm very tempted to try to do one myself, but it's a hell of a big job. I know I want one though.

I made one, but one was more than enough, lol, that particular repaint was a 1 shot only.
    Sorry.

If i'm correct I did that on for him.

But trust me, you wouldn't be interested in my prices man. My work can be a bit exspensive.

    Good luck!

I did one by dyeing him black. It was a fun project but not one I'm looking to do again.

    yup, you sure did. :D

If you're looking for commision work, it's probably gonna run you a lot no matter who does it. It is just very involving taking apart a MP from what I can see.
    good luck, though!

    BTW, nice black shelf AM!

Automaster (or anyone else who knows), does dyeing work on painted metal? I assumed it only worked on platic. Did you dye or paint his die-cast parts?

Thanks very much! Looks great, by the way!

you can only dye the plastic. the die cast must be painted, I believe.

Nope, I dyed the metal too. When held up to bright light, you can tell it's not 100% black where the red was, but in regular lighting conditions it's darn close. Taking the head apart to dye that was a major chore, it's not just screwed closed, it's glued at the seems too. Ug. The chest cavity was another pain to take apart with so many pins, but I tell you it was well worth it to have a black Optimus Prime.

to get the best result you'd want to strip the paint off the metal and then repaint the metal parts and then dye the plastics. I'm not really sure the best way to do it though so I try and stick with plastic only figures to repaint so I have a consistant finish.
