My wife's co-worker gave this to her to give to me, because she knows I collect robots. It was given to her husband when he worked for the company back in the 80's. It's a special edition of the Renegade Spoons, but all I have found about this one is an eBay auction, and that the company, Autocon, went out of business years ago.

The spoons toy. Except for the "Autocon" sticker, it looks just like the normal release of him from 1984. The toy itself has a "1984 Bandai" copyright, and the instruction book a "1984 Tonka" copyright.
To the best of my knowledge, the toy itself has never been transformed, and his joints when I tried are so tight, I am afraid I'll break him. Does anyone have any information about this?

I think it's Spoons. He's the bot that became ROTF Deadlift.

That is freakin awesome! I have my Spoons + Deadlift displayed together, but that one would garner special space all to himself. I'd want to work that box + literature in there somewhere as well.

I'm thinking about displaying him, but if he's some sort of exclusive, or very limited edition, I want to make sure I don't do anything stupid that could get him broke, like letting my nephew get his hands on him, you know?

I read about these a few days ago. It was an advertisement for the company that the owner never gave away. They were found in his office closet after he passed. His family from what I understand sold them off. There were a few on ebay, I bought one this morning. I couldn't pass it up.

Someone had a shitload of these on ebay a while back MIB. I tried to search now but couldn't find any. Its definitely an exclusive of some kind, but probably not that rare based on how many I saw listed and the cheap price. However, with my luck, they probably are very rare and valuable and I passed on all of them b/c I'm an idiot.....

    autocon gobot | eBay

It seems some of them didn't sell, so perhaps they'll relist.

Autocon, this is Snake, come in Autocon.

Anyways, yeah, that's Spoons alright, but not sure if this is a custom or something made by Bandai on order, or what.

Could it possibly be one of those supplier exclusives?? A friend of mine worked for JJ Keller and was able to give away some quality detailed die cast toys with the company logo on them to suppliers. That was the only way you could get one, unless you "knew a guy", which I did. Maybe this was something along those lines, and it never got used by the sales staff...

May I ask how much you paid for it? I don't want to sell mine, I'm just wondering.

I had a regular version of this toy. Very cool find.

$20 today could be $200 tomorrow, who knows.

Wow! Very obscure indeed! by the sounds of it this seller pretty much owns the entire allotment.

Did the Gobots release of Spoons have MR-34 on the side like the Autocon one does? I have the Mr MachineRobo version but not the Gobots version.
