I became addicted to gurren lagann thanks to youngoptimus14 and stonecrusher (I will get you back........ Somehow..........) And the series is over! I need to know if there are any ideas or rumors about a sequel or english dubs of the movies.

there is no english dubs of the "movies" only subtitled stuff and the movies imho are a major pass all of em are just recaps of all the episodes with some new scenes added

also this should be in Movies and TV

Hopefully they hire those voice actors from the english dub soon to redub the movie...... But oh well will then.

    Sorry didn't think of that.

Lagann-Hen is a lot more cohesive as a story arc than Gurren-Hen. The final battle portion is incredible and awesome in Lagann-Hen - taking all that was great about the original final battle and making it ten times cooler.

I'm fairly sure Bandai said it wasn't cost effective to make English dubs of the movies, especially since their DVD releases have been so limited.

There are no existing dubs at the moment. Of course, that could change in the future...

While the anime industry is currently in rough shape state-side, I think it unlikely that a series as popular as gurren lagann would go unlicensed for too long.

It's not unlicensed. Aniplex released the movies directly in North America.

    But they released them sub-only.

Shows how behind I am. Maybe aniplex/bandai found that their earlier, sub-only release of TTGL was more effective for them than their later, dub included release, and couldn't justify the cost of dubbing the movies?

Bandai was not involved in the release of the GL movies.

This was pretty much Aniplex's first instance of directly handling the North American market themselves. Not sure how successful it was...

I know I'm coming in late here, but no there will not be any official eng. dubs of the movies. Aniplex had made a deal with Syfy channel to dub them, but pulled out for unknown reasons. However, there is a group on DeviantArt (Dissidia-Fandub-Club), officially the group is MoogleForce5, who are doing a fandub of both movies beginning January 2013. Visit their group page for more information

Aniplex's releases follow a very Japanese style of marketting. Very expensive, and very limited, generally.

Since it's been over a year now, they're probably long gone.

Aniplex releases are usually available through their own site, and through RightStuf.com. You might find them in a specialty anime store, but not at BestBuy or whatever.

Subs are out there. But discussing where to get them here is against our rules. So sorry about that. They came out a while ago so most of the major torrent listing places would probably have them mirrored.
