I'd like to know if anyone has a source of Cameron saying anything bad or good about the Tf films thus far.

Maybe some kind of advice or pointers that Bay would definately agree on, or at least put into account.

He has complimented the visuals and effects, but has said story is lacking. His sentiments are pretty much what a lot of the more moderate fans have.

Source: one of the links on Avatar's wiki page. can't remember which

(See? THIS is how one should source wiki)

Would you want some Director telling you how to make your movies?

I sure hope you meant that as a joke, because that's exactly how it comes off right now.

it's crazy that avatar has now surpassed titanic as the highest grossing film worldwide... i wonder if that number has been adjusted for inflation. while i think neither film was earth shattering plot-wise, i think titanic at least had some high quality acting. in either event cheers to cameron... but let's hope next time he gets some real writers, division of labor people!

right b/c james cameron doesn't know how to make good movies

When adjusted for inflation, neither Titanic or Avatar are even on the top 10 list, if I remember correctly. Highest is Gone with the Wind. I don't know which of the two scored highest though.

You are correct. I believe Titanic is actually only ranked 26th when adjustef for inflation. With this adjustment, Avatar has not caught Titanic yet. It's crazy when you think about how many more screens movies are shown on now compared to the movies in the top ten (i.e. Gone With The Wind, Star Wars, and E.T.).

I don't think there is really much chance of Bay saying well gee I guess I should pick up my game because Cameron has pointed out some things I could be doing better.

The studios and corporate suits though could be another story. They see all those dollar signs from the box office and they get thinking hum what can we copy to get those kind of returns for our company. So when Cameron was first talking about 3-D the suits were sort of whatever it's a gimmick. That "gimmick" though seems to have helped rake in extra money so now Clash of the Titans will be in 3-D as well as the last two Harry Potter films.

What the suits take away from Cameron has said that they are going to want to push on Bay is anyone's guess. While Bay is the director the suits are the ones who write the checks so they can influence a film a great deal.

I just had lunch with James Cameron.
He comes over the house on Fridays to use my bathroom and since he was over anyway, I made him lunch. (He hates zucchini squash, BTW)

Well, I asked him forthright, "Do you have any comments on Michael Bay's Transformers?" and this is what he said:

Then he had to go because Linda Hamilton called him and made him cry.

ahhh...well with avatar's great results, maybe Bay/or the writers we'll find some influence from Cameron's new flick, and implement some onto the new script for TF3.

Hey, if Cameron has any ideas or insight that would help Bay make Transformers 3 the best of those films then by all means let him speak.

I wouldn't mind if Bay employed Cameron's 3-D tech for Transformers 3 and went all CGI crazy with it taking place back on planet Cybertron for the final battle.

I didn't read it as a joke nor does it need to be. Big time Hollywood directors could give two shits what another director thinks about their movies. Unless they have a relationship ala Spielberg/Lucas or something of the like. I'm sure Bay would appreciate another filmmaker saying positive things about his work. But if they didn't, he'd just tell them where to stick it and go about making HIS movies, not someone else's.
