I really like the quality of the Alternators line of transformers. Anyone know if there's a chance of another line like it?

Probably not; it wound up being too difficult to secure rights from car companies.

What about the TAKARA release of Alt. Rumble and Alt. Jaguar Ravage?

Hasbro indicated that there would be no more figures in the Alternators line and no plans of developing a new Alternators line. It was probably very tough to secure the licenses from the car manufacturers. In terms of Takara, they released 4 in the Binaltech line but that might have been the last of it. But in a few months, they have Alternity line, which the scale of the car molds are smaller than the ones used in the Alt/BT line.

I'd say the best we can hope for at the moment is a few sporadic convention-exclusive Alternator repaints. Hasbro currently has no plans to bring over Alternity, which would be the next closest thing.

Sure wish there was a sustainable market for Alts. I miss them!

    Random thought of the night:

I always thought the Alternators could've been a cool "gateway series" for other alternate modes with the same detail. Imagine the same ingenuity and engineering team, but with tanks, jets, and non-licensed cars.

Think of a WW2-model F4U Corsair with Alternator-like engineering. Or an "Alternator" Lockdown that transforms like our current version but with opening doors, seats, etc.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's impossible, but it's impossible. ;)

i like the idea of new vehicles! when was that nissan gt-r one supposed to come out, i remember seeing pictures of that around somewhere? maybe im crazy. i wish they'd bring back a few more waves, but im not too hopeful of it. id certainly buy the majority of them as i liked the designs of the majority of the figures they made thus far.

You must be imagining things. There is no such thing, and nobody knows about it.

    Seriously.

I don't think Hasbro has flat out said they would never bring back Alternators, but stated they have no plans to do it in the future. Will they make them again? Maybe, but very unlikely.

I certainly wouldn't mind if they deviated from the car lineup since they had so much trouble with licensing and just brought back more 'alternators' in the same scale and quality and used other vehicles like the decepticon jets, tanks, etc.

Do you have any idea how enormous 1:24 scale jet and tank Transformers would be? Those would be some of the largest TFs ever.

Yeah, well, nobody said they had to placate or pander to the scale nazis either. Most of them presumably went into seizures back when Classics was released and won't fully recover until Encore stops anyway.

I highly doubt we'll see any alt reissues or alt Botcon exclusives, for the simple reason that Hasbro would have to renegotiate the licensing rights (assuming the licensing rights have expired).

    I doubt it.

One of the best lines ever. I'd love to see these bad boys out in the wild again. Hell, even the repaints were pretty good.

Alts./BT's were the best TF's ever produced. if Hasbro would agresivly seek new licenses and improve there distrobution, Alt's would go over better than they did before.......assuming that's possible !!!

I didn't mean to say the same scale in relation to the real thing. I meant to scale with the current alternator toys. For example, my alternators are way bigger than my G1 Transformers are...so they don't fit together. If they released other alternator lines like jets, etc. I would want them the same size as my old alternator cars.

You don't seem to have a firm grasp of the word "scale", methinks.

I would love to see Optimus as a EXTREMELY Limited Edition 1:24 Mack Truck or anything like that. A REAL CARGO TRUCK.

Oh, but that would compete with the Movie version...

    Hmmmm... Dunno, really.

He meant they should be the same size in robot mode.
