I heard a rumor during Botcon that "someone" is working on a Menasor combiner kit for the Botcon 2011 Stunticons. Does anyone know where this started and if there is any truth to it?

I figure it's not outside the realm of possibility especially if one were to create a trailer for Motor Master that would house all the necessary parts to combine.

Apologies if this has already been discussed in another thread.

Heard the rumors as well. According to the rumors, prototype was suppose to be shown at Botcon but creators had problems so reveal has been pushed back. Again, just rumors for now...

its got a very small market for 3rd party.

    1. Animated, like Beast Wars, is not the most generally accepted line (unlike the most widely accepted classics, hence why most add-on's are for that line or things to get into that line) This means that only a relatively small portion of collectors would be interested (aka not a high demand, but there is a demand)

    2. Its a botcon set.

This is true but I think they made 2000 sets. Granted not everyone who bought a set would necessarily want one but if the price is right, I have to believe a large majority would.

    Read: point 1.

edit:; I do agree that there will be demand btw, just wanted to avoid sounding like a jerk. I am aware of Shadow Scythe. His name is not Scyther btw. And I hope you are aware as well, that it is for a classics figure, and somehow, I don't know why, its better in every fan's mind.

Idk just seems like proportions would be off. Just seems like it would be a bunch of parts and sticking the cars on like a parts former, guess time will tell.

    1. I did, Timelines isn't a part of the mainlines, they're (typically) Fun Pub exclusives.

    2. Good call on "Shadow Scythe", upon checking out that is indeed the name on Fansproject's site, I find it very odd that most other sites call it "Scyther".

    3. Sure, the mold is from Classics, but the intended figure is from a BotCon-Exclusive Timelines set. Not the mainline.

Take a good look at G1 Menasor, heck almost any G1 combiner, then come back and read what you just wrote :lol

^ But this is 2011, not 1984-5-6. We're expecting more from modern combiners. But as long as all the parts have somewhere to go when not combined, I'd be ok with it.

This set sold incredibly fast. I think it's almost certain that a lot of people that paid for one, would also pay for combiner parts if they're well done, like the FP sets.

I've always wondered why Hasbro and TakaraTOMY haven't been able to replicate the combiner success that was Rail Racer. Granted it was only a three figure combiner but that thing has been the most articulated and best designed combiner to date.

After Rail Racer it seems that things went backwards with the Energon combiners and now the PCCs.

    Combiners aren't economical to Hasbro.

    Fair enough.

In that case then TakaraTOMY needs to do it again! :D

Not trying to derail this thread with railracer (hurrrr) but since he was mentioned... He surely is one of the best combiners out there, but I think some of his components really suffer from it... They're not terrible, but as standalone figures they leave something to be desired, especially their robot modes (the trains are beautiful). I also always found it funny that one of the trio doesn't contribute much to the combiner, other than being his backpack and part of his torso (i think).

Anyone have a guess which 3rd party company would/could likely produce such a combiner kit?

I think it would be a new company like the one that's doing the MP movie Starscream engines.

I think at this point companies like iGear, FP, and TFC are off to bigger projects.

A project like this is very limited.
