I don't watch basketball as often as I did in the past and mostly on a causal basis but ...I think with the amount of hype Yao Ming was given, he has failed to live up to expectations.

I hate how everything ESPN puts out now is Insider.

I have the magazine, just haven't bothered with setting up my Insider access, too much of a pain.

(And as for Yao's hype, I've read a lot of people call him one of the best centers in the league.)

I think this kid has the potential to be better than Yao.

Yeah, but his team always seems to "fall" short. For the amount of hype he has been given, I expect his team the Houston Rockets to be challenging for the NBA title consistently instead of being knocked out in the earlier rounds.

Maybe the firing of Van Gundy will help.

Or if McGrady and Yao could both stay healthy for a full season.

There's no reason they should've lost the Utah series, just a complete choke job on their part. I wouldn't single out Yao for it.

Yao's come a long way. He still needs a little more mental toughness development though.

He needs to toughen up a bit and use his size more.

And stop playing for China in the summers. Damn kid needs some time off.

I'd have to Ditto that one as well.

He's a great shooter and I think that the confidence is there, he just needs to work on hanging on to the ball a little more.

Also, I can only remember a handfull of times that I've seen him angry or "intense", he needs to be a little more emotional. I think he needs to get an attitude. He knows he's the Shit, but he needs to let others know that he knows too.

Yao Ming gave me the inspiration to play as the Houston Rockets in NBA Live 2004. I broke that game two years ago.

Speaking of looking like he was 16 at age ten... he was 6 ft. tall when he was twelve.
