I picked up my Movie Cliffjumper last week, and I just happened upon some interesting alternate transformations... so here we are!

This seems almost redundant now that Classics Sunstreaker has been unveiled, but it works so well, I can't help myself. :)

This is more an idea thread, than a true bash. As you can see I slightly digibashed the Sideswipe head so it would look a bit more like him. The G1 Sunstreaker head probably wouldn't fit into the Camaro transformation without some cutting... maybe his "antlers" would have to fold back or something.

To achieve this alternate transformation, it is necessary to shave a few tabs down in the wings and shoulders with a hobby knife... but it doesn't affect the figure in any way really. A couple of minute's work, at worst.

Heh... you mean a lot of half-finished customs! :)

My ratio of initiated customs vs completed customs is pretty... sad. :(

But yeah, it's been a busy week for me... Sideswipe/Sunstreaker, Devastator, Wheeljack, and my Hound from a couple of days ago.

Plus I was doing some pics and digibashes of a BB '78 Camaro-to-Arcee project for SonRay, but he got himself banned before I could send him the picture links. :rolleyes2

Honestly, the sunstreaker looks like a Hasbro photoshoot...meaning the figure really looks like a mistransformed figure. I know, it is purposely mistransformed (that's what alternate transformation is) but it just "looks" mistransformed. I think if the windshield can be moved to the back and maybe get some real toes or just somehow be able to rotate the toes to the front and leave the rest of the leg how you have it there would really help the figure. I really like what you have going there but those 2 changes would improve it greatly.

That's a good idea for Sunstreaker, however it would look better if there was some silver on the crotch/waist area to break up all the black.

Those are pretty cool, nice work.

I cant shake the backwards look Sunstreaker has though. Mainly the feet and hips. And the kibbled chest area

    Those are some sweetass pics

Just a thought, but you could probably do some trimming on the abdomen area, and swivel the hips round so that the same feet face forward for 'Streaker.
I'm also curious about the 'Swipe head. looks like, what, Armada Wheeljack?

Damn fine idea for mods, though. I'm tempted to shave some bits off my 'Bee just to see what I can do with it.

[EDIT] Reversing the hips would be a bigger mod than I realised, given the angle that the balljoint is connected at. Pity. [/EDIT]

Cool! I figured that you could flip the BB toes up too make it look a tad better.

I know what you mean about the windshield, but that would sort of defeat the purpose of having an alternate "Sunstreaker" transformation, considering that the window on his gut and the wheels on his shoulders are the most salient features of G1 Sunstreaker. He kind of reminds me of Alternator Sunstreaker, but less fat-looking. :)

As for the toes... I actually like his legs much better this way, with the fender on the knee. The larger "toe" could look better on the front, but I'm okay with the small one... probably not worth the trouble of trying to make his lower legs swivel.

That is a Cybertron Thundercracker head, photoshopped black (which sort of makes it the same as a Cybertron Skywarp head, I guess.) In the Sideswipe solo picture only, I also digitally added his little horns, but that's the only other change I made to the head. Took me a while to find a suitable head, that's for sure... Armada Wheeljack's was just a bit too big.

You might be right. I like the strong black/yellow motif, but his crotch needs some detailing to make it look less like the unpainted butt piece with an exposed screw that it really is. :)

Um, glad you like the pics. heh.

I was actually surprised how un-backwards Sunstreaker was looking, but it could be because I've had the legs reversed on my BB for a while now, so it doesn't look odd to me. Also I'm digging the kibbly chest area... makes it distinct from the normal transformation, and gives him a rather powerful build. I have two pretty different robot modes from one mold now. I'm honestly starting to like this transformation more than the official one. :)

You mean the big toes on the "back" of his feet? Yeah, I tried that, and it does look better. I just had them folded down for the photo shoot because it made him more stable and easier to pose.

I forgot to mention that I did the Camaro toe-mod on these guys... that is to say, the back heel piece (that's on the front of the Sunstreaker) comes upside down from the factory, and if you unscrew the leg, you can flip it back the right way. Looks much better... I'm pretty certain it's a factory mistake.

Anyone notice that I gave Sunstreaker his red upper arms by transplanting the bicep armour from the red Camaro? :)

Other than the trunk kness, I actually like the Sunstreaker mod. If'n the trunk was able to swing down and cover the feet, I think it'd be sequel material.

I actually do like the wheels in front of shoulders and bumper knees. Just not the window guts and small toes. I think the window guts would actually look good if it weren’t for that part of the engine bonnet that’s still attached to it sticking out like that. Having that part fold in and down behind the windshield would improve that look. That would be difficult and probably not worth modding though. Or the other thing that can be done about that part is cut that part off from the windshield and attach it to the 2 bonnet pieces that it sits between in car mode. I don't know if that affects transformation though. And I didn't even notice the red shoulder pads til you mentioned it. Nice touch.

It does, I just looked. Those two pieces need the space between them, because they rotate down for robot mode and pass either side of the upper torso.

Yeah, I just checked it out too. Doesn't work.

So I went and tried this mod/transformation for Sunstreaker and it actually looks alot better in person. I like it alot. The gut doesn't seem to look as big in person. I still would prefer bigger toes though but I think that's an easy mod (just replace it with something bigger).
