'Reading Rainbow' Reaches Its Final Chapter : NPR
Still, 26 years is highly respectable.
I fucking hated reading rainbow
Print really is dead.
Man! That sucks. GEORDI!!!!! I always liked the intro animation and the song.
I had no idea this show was still on the air RIP
sad sad thing i have the theme song permanantly stuck in my head
original version of the theme
YouTube - Old School Reading Rainbow Theme
YouTube - Reading Rainbow New Theme
The new version isn't bad but I love the original song better. I'm even G1 with Reading Rainbow.
Never watched it, but still it's a shame when a good thing goes away.
That's a shame, I didn't know it was still on the air but I use to watch it a lot when I was a kid. I agree, the new version of the theme song, not so good. Do they still have Book It? I use to love that, get a free pizza for reading, of course kids are fat enough, I guess unless its Twilight or Harry Potter kids just aren't interested.
That was actually one of the GOOD educational TV shows. I remember watching that before grade school, and liking it. LeVar Burton owned.
Goddamn political bullshit of the 21st century. If politicians wanted to teach kids HOW to read, put more funding towards the school's literature programs. What's next to fall victim of the FAIL of today?
RIP Reading Rainbow.
i don't know what it'll be yet, but I'm starting a book tonight in the show's honor.
Why? Because they didn't do a segment on your $13,000 Spider-man #1?
Poor guys outta a job again
I loved Reading Rainbow and 1-2-3 Contact
That's sad news. I'm glad it did last for so long, however.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Tell that to Barnes and Noble which is still hugely successful due to its book sales. Afterward, tell it to the millions of people across the globe who still read books, and still buy new books and read them. And then tell that to the millions of successful authors who keep writing new books.
Print can't die. It doesn't rely on electricity.
3-2-1, not 1-2-3
Man, that's depressing. Reading Rainbow and Mr. Rogers were staples of my childhood... As cliche as it sounds, that show probably did do a lot towards helping me enjoy reading, so I'm grateful for that.
But more importantly, I'm grateful to them for putting this out into the world:

I hated this show. Used to fall asleep every time I saw it on TV as a kid.
We need more of these type shows not less. Also while their at it bring back Saturday morning cartoons on the major networks.
