The item was taken down. I guess enough of us reported it. It had a great image comparing a vintage one to the knockoff, though. Notice the very different fades on the sunburst behind the character art:

lol, go team tfw. It's nice to see reporting actually work.

That is indeed a nice little comparison shot. The lack of grid lines over the glow is a clear giveaway

What I don't understand is there was a dealer at Botcon selling all of this kind of stuff, almost all the stuff they had was bootleg. At BOTCON!! I found another seller who had a MISB Grimlock which was too nice to be an original so I asked him if I could have a close look and sure enough it was a bootleg too. He was a little disheartened and I genuinely believe he didn't know, but the first guy most certainly did and was kinda arrogant about it.

Yes, it is kind of sad that people are selling KO as the real stuff.
The problem now is most people only compare the real and KO in box.
They don't have a comparison of the toys in loose form.

For me, I prefer my toys to be in loose form as they are only use for display.
Anyone know of a website where they review all the KO toys rather than just the box?

    whoppee.
that is like saying hookers in nevada are legal.

selling bootlegs or KO's on ebay is not legal.

ebay states so in their terms of service.

cops enforce the law...not make it up as you go along.

ebay can have any TOS they like...until someone takes their ass to court and has a judge rule something illegal...it files like it or not.

and ebay is a business providing access to their network...so they have have any rules they like....

and considering tiffany lamps and gucci just sued the shit out of them over KO's being sold on their site...i doubt highly that KO's being allowed anytime will happen.

Oi vey... another reason I'd probably never get into G1 collecting. Quite late in the game to do that... and then shell out cash for what could be bootlegged knock-offs? In some cases items are blatantly obvious... others not so much so, moreso if you can only judge by one or two pictures.
