This is another commission for surlyj....this thing was a pain in my ass....lol..

He wanted an Icestorm that wasn't the "traditional" seeker look but didnt want the 3D effects. So thats when we decided to go this route ,,,using chrome to give an icy look.....it wasnt really that big of a pain in the ass...it just took along time with alll the different coats and types of paint....took alot longer than the traditional seeker paint. i used tamiya fin surface primer, tamiya pure white, tamiya french blue, tamiya gloss black, testors gloss black enamel, alclad chrome, and a little tamiya acrylic white misted over for the frosty look...lol

Awesome! I can't wait to complete my seeker shelf with this unique bad boy! Part of me wants to learn to do my own customs, but why bother when you keep doing such good work!

Damn this is nice..... All you need to do now, is a Icestorm where White is the base color, and you could have your own Ice Seeker team, LOL. Kickass!
In alt mode, I get the feeling this would be a great as a Cobra Jet

Not really my cup of tea. It looks like a lot of over spray without any definable regions to differentiate the shapes of the seeker. I think if you had done a detail pass with washes, and some dry brushing to bring out all the lovely high frequency detail on the mold, and then hit it with some frosty effects you'd have a better result. Instead, you've got large regions of flat color or chrome with nothing breaking it up except other large swaths of color intersecting them.

Overall it's just flat and uninteresting :(

Doesn't "large regions of flat color" kind of define every seeker out there?
