Never been a huge fan of this crossover in general, but I enjoyed the most recent one. Hope this new one proves to be as engaging.
I've disliked damn near every GI Joe crossover. The only story I ever liked was the non-miniseries in the later GI Joe issues that led into the Gen 2 miniseries.
Also, I'm not a big fan of writers who invent words like 'favoritest.'
*edit: Should clarify that I'll probably buy it anyways, if only to support the TF franchise, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll be good.
After this most recent one, I don't know if I can stand another. The art was pretty cool, but the story...Ugh.
im game to check it out...hopefully its really cool...
I'm game.. The do a better job than the Dreamwave one wher you couldn't tell what the hell was going on..
Really enjoyed the first one (seriously, who expected to see Autobots converted into Cobra war machines?), the second one felt phoned in, loved the third one. I don't have time to read the article right now, so hopefully it'll continue from the end of the last series since it drastically changed a few key characters.
I totally agree. The second one just seemed rushed, but this third one had a good story and great art. I thought that reinvention of Serpentor was killah!
This is good, im glad to see they want to keep it going..
Sweet, hope Cobra-La and Unicron show up!
And there was much rejoicing.
This last one was the best of the three DDP ones, so I'm looking forward to it.
I made the mistake of buying V3. The art was great, at lest the parts that weren’t changed, but the story was horrible, especially the ending. So even if Joe Ng and Alex Milne do the art again, I won't be buying it.
the last one sucked ass...
eh, who am i kidding. its got the TF name slapped on there, i'm buying it.
Yep, this is a special edition. It features both fandoms in an all-out nerd war over the summer convention timeslot.
The best Joe/Transformer crossover was the World War 1/2 themed one... I always wondered why the hell they never continued that- it rocked.
Because DW went under hardcore.
I don't ever remember if they got the last issue out or not. I know if it was it was REALLY late.
They did. And they started on a second series in contemporary times.
I would like to see that setting revisited. I got all psyched to see the Transformers with WWII alt modes and then the books came out and I was all "What the hell am I looking at? Is that an arm? Is that Grimlock's shoulder or his head? Why does everyone have a shadow on half of their bodies?"
If IDW ever gets all of Dreamwave's IPs, I'd like to see that storyline continued.
yeah, it came out, and i'm even fairly sur eit wasn't late, and like smasher said they out out the first issue of a 2nd series set in mdoern times tha twas a sequal, it was decidely "meh"
i'm done with Seeley, haven't really felt his writing.
just sad we never get to see Don's concept with the Rolling Thunder Prime and Dominator Megatron
Oh yeah, I remember all that now.
And yeah, the art was horrible. It looked like someone trying unsuccesfully to do a sort of Ben Templesmith style. Grimlock looked like he was never in one mode or the other. Though the original designs released where you could actually see things, looked great. And I do remember that issue 1 of the second series was a great set up and then they went under. But the last issue of the first series was out really late, I remember having to re-read the whole series because I forgot what had happened.
I wonder who they're going to get to draw the other half of the book, since they can't trust one single artist to draw their GI Joe characters.
Devil's Due passed it's prime in the Transformers world long ago (no pun). IDW has some promising titles that explore something I'm interested in. Devil's Due? Third time was the charm, but don't confuse the fact that just because you actually hired someone who can draw Transformers last time that you have the interest of the entire fan community.
