Agreed, I have both laster and braver in koren box and in the giftset box these two are the exact same figures. I think its funny when a japanese g1 thread pops up and most people have no clue.

 

All three MISB for $200 > 1 MIB Blacker in average condition with MIB korean KO Laster and Braver for $225

Of course I have no idea of what I'm talking about.  

 

I know it isn't much to do with this thread, but it is along the same lines..I bought this set of Transformers Clones, Fastlane and Cloudraker, it said complete--which would be both figures and the 2 sets of guns, one set red, one set grey. But they only came with one grey set. Worth complaining over, or pay another 15$ to get the guns?

 

I thought TFs made in Korea were more along the lines of just being made at a different (yet official) factory with same to similar quality, rather than KOs.

 

There is only one KO Road Caesar and it doesn't look anything like that.

i'm fluent in korean and i don't see any korean writing on that box.

maybe cuz the image seems small.. but from what i can see, that's entirely in japanese.

japanese and korean (can) both incorporate chinese characters in the respective languages - kinda like latin roots present in modern day english. maybe this is part of the mix-up?

Whatever. Even if it's a chinese "official" release, still not worth the $225. The chinese bootlegs were selling for $40 each, not a long ago.

No prob dude, it's all good   Just saying what I'd do if it had happened to me.

 

If there hadn't been a pic, you'd have plenty of reason to complain to the seller, but the pic clearly shows only one set of guns. A lot of times the pics tell you more than the seller can since most sellers aren't experts. Probably best for you to just snap up the other guns seperately.

 

I like that a member named knockoff contributes to a thread about knockoffs.

I really, really wish I could speak Japanese, but it's not worth it just for the hobby.

 

Wow, thanks for all of the replies. They got me thinking.

I also have another set of these guys, so I took them out to compare. Here is what I found:

Laster was a completely different shade of Yellow. Next I looked at the small print to see what I could find.

The new Laster lists:

1st Line - ©HASBRO.INC.
2nd Line - ©TAKARA.1989
3rd Line - MADE IN CHINA

My old one lists:

1st Line - Some japanese writing
2nd Line - ©TAKARA.CO.LTD.1989
3rd Line - JAPAN

I checked the new Braver and it said the same, (Made in China). Last I checked Blacker it has the JAPAN writing on it like my originals.

So are the ones from China worth less?

Next I want to point out that I purchased these because the Listing said "Perfect." My pictures do not display the real condition of these toys. Even when I saw my pictures, I thought they did not look as bad as they really do. I do blame myself for the following:

- The seller stated that he would provide more pictures but I never asked.
- I did not follow the #1 rule: "If it is too good to be true, then it is not true"

I do wish to own a "perfect" set of these, and I may have to puchase them MISB. I now know I will have to pay more for them.

Godsenddeth I dont think these are factory defects as you can see an example below. I can assure you these toys have been well played with. Even the joints are very loose.

 

If your not happy resell the set. Everything looks great to me. It was worth what you paid indeed. Only KO was the lame rainbow one. ANyway this is going to get pointless so im done.

 

cobra zartan, I am not trying to beat this to death. My very last question was pointed to MACRAPTRON about the value on the China versions. I have taken the blame for the rest.

 

The only difference is the box I paid $150ish for my 1st blacker alone. I think you madeout well. If your not happy lemme know and ill see if I can find someone to take it off your hands.
