Sorry if this has already been covered, but due to time constraints the search function is not my friend.

I'd been thinking this for a while and after watching AOE this weekend,I think it even more.

Drift should never have been a Bugatti Veyron. Given his "Samurai" persona the choice of car was so so very wrong. Why use the Italian designed and German engineered Bugatti when the obvious choice for an alt mode for a legendary bad ass Samurai is so clearly the Nissan GTR. And after seeing the film and Drift triple changing into that helicopter the lines of the GTR would have made for an easier transition and little details of the GTR could have easily been incorporated into the helicopter mode without them looking at all out of place. The menacing looking GTR would have also fitted with the fact that Drift was once a Decepticon, a car like that could easily have passed for mean Decpeticon or bad ass autobot. then there's the merchandising side too, Nissan have already agreed for Hasbro to use their branding, MP Prowl and the Takara Alternity GTR variants. I think Bay with his Italian "Super car" fixation really missed a trick on this one.

I totally agree with you here. But, I'm happy with how Drift has turned out.

You will never see a Transformer turn into a Japanese car in these movies as long as Michael Bay is directing.

A German Bugatti, into a Japanese Samurai, in a Chinese movie?

    Oh well, Drift was great.

It would have made sense, but personalities dont match vehicle modes.

The wreckers were soccer hooligans that transformed into NASCAR racers.
Crosshairs was Australian and transformed into a Corvette

I used to have the same thoughts as you did,
but when I saw the video from the staff who talked about the cars,
they explained the Bugatti talked to Bay and ask him to put their Veyron Vitesse into the film,

and Nissan or Acura DID NOT flew to Michael Bay to ask him to put their GTR or New NSX into the movie.....

Maybe Nissan was his previous vehicle mode but recently he saw Bugatti and liked it;)  And can anyone tell me why Drift is formerly decepticon?

Then why was Jazz a Pontiac Solstice? Why were Skids and Mudflap Chevies? Crosshairs surely wasn't American, yet he transformed into a corvette. Personalities dont need to match vehicle modes, since G1

Drift isn't the only case of the personality not matching the car. Is it really that important? And why is everyone most focused on this issue as if it is only Drift? Why, because he is a samurai? Stop it.

Yeah I wanted a GTR as well but the Veyron was nice hopefully Blurr will be a GTR or a Hennessey Venom that would be sweet.

I agree that Drift shouldn't have been a Buggati. I would have just made him a helicopter only and Blurr would be the Buggati instead.

Blur being the Bugatti would have made more sense than Drift, but I think a T1 Caparo would make an awesome Bayverse Blur.

I don't see what the big deal about vehicle mode as long as it looked cool. He wasn't just a car. He was also a helicopter
