hey, here's a kinda interesting thought-how about some time in a later series the Autobots bump into another repair crew, and each of them has a counterpart with the other Autobots and the new guys show up the Autobots and talk tough, but then the decepticons show up, the regular core of Autobots saves the day. the other group then kinda leaves, but they've now bonded and what not. as for who in the other crew...

    Cliffjumper (Bumblebee)
    Red Alert (Ratchet
    Silverstreak/Bluestreak (Prowl)
    Brawn (Bulkhead)
hmmm, no idea for Prime though-who would be his counterpart?

and i highly doubt it will happen, but it could possibly be an interesting twist in the story.

Rodimus would be perfect for that.

Inferno or Grapple would fit the bill.

what about, instead of having them show up out of the blue, and leave just as suddenly, have them be the prior crew of the Autobot's ship, who are discovered in a hidden stasis chamber revealed by the key, and think that Prime's crew are Decepticon spies sent to sabotage their mission, not realizing that the great war is long over.

    Ebay:
    Streetwise (Bumblebee)
    First Aid (Ratchet)
    Groove (Prowl)
    Defensor (Bulkhead)
    Hot Spot (Prime)

All in their G1 colors with their G1 personalities except Defensor who I'd like to see done up in S.W.A.T. colors with a Drill Instructor type personality.

Sorry, no Blades as the there seems to be a no flying rule for the Autobots. (except Swoop, but he's new so he didn't get the memo.)

A second Decepticon crew could also be made to act as the new Autobot crew's main opponets.

    Skywarp (Starscream)
    Flywheels (Blitzwing)
    Runamuck (Lockdown)
    Dreadwing (Lugnut)
    Overkill (Grimlock)

Skywarp is a no-brainer. Flywheels could work as a Triple Changer take on the Duocon. Runamuck, also a no-brainer. Dreadwing I would imagine as the G2 version toy in color. Overkill would be a nice contrast in color to Grimlock as an atempt to make another Dinobot that would serve the cons. A Scourge colored version, ala Cybertron, or a Trypticon color sceme could also work.

    I'd go with:

    Prime - Rodimus
    Ratchet - Kup
    Bumblebee - Blurr
    Bulkhead - Springer
    Prowl - Arcee

Or....with a little time travel involved:

    Prime - Primal
    Ratchet - Rhinox
    Bumblebee - Cheetor
    Bulkhead - Dinobot
    Prowl - Rattrap

I'd say switch the Rattrap and Cheetor names and you have a winner there, AK. The new Bumblebee is more like the rodent than not and the the Prowl bot mode better suits the spot-on cool cat. The Cheetor mold (the original one) always struck me as a beast version of the Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen G1 guys due to the head design being similar. In fact, now that we have a Classic Prowl coming up, I wonder how it'd look bashed into a Cheetor.

Yeah your reasoning is sound asthetically but I was thinking more personality-wise. Cheetor matches Bumblebees personality, i.e a hot headed, occationally insubordinate young tear away, and Rattrap matches Prowl, i.e highly trained stealth/spy guy. If i were going on asthetics Id have married Rhinox up with Bulkehead seeing as their both big green and hard as nails.

I see you point, AK, but I can't see Rattrap being taller than Cheetor. :D

Bulkhead would make a better choice for Rhinox. Given that option, I'd drop the Ratchet mold and go with Grimlock as Dinobot.

Maybe but as I said, to me aesthetics arn't as important. It really doesnt matter to me how tall/short/bulky they are only that they fulfill the function of their opposite number on the crew. I'm happy with my choices I think they are the best fit from my pov.

Plus Grimlock isn't part of the Animated crew, and Rhinox was always medic/fix it guy first muscle second and he was older and more experienced than the rest of the BW crew so IMO he's the better fit for Ratchet.

Going back to the original poster - that sounds awesome.

I'd second Cliffjumper (but he has to be gnarly and gung-ho)

First Aid (another medic but is a pacifist - the most interesting take on a character in G1 season 3) or Wheeljack (G1 fanwank version of Doc Brown from BTTF) instead of Ratchet

Mirage for Prowl (would love to see a TFA take on the Classics version)

(Hey, with WJ and Mirage there's room for Unicron trilogy Decepticon-sympathy fan nods...)

Given how well-received BH has been I'm up for another new character as the beefcake. Or Wheelie.

Another (G1 throwback as a) rookie/washout leader - Hound maybe? Or G1 Silverbolt is a good character fit and I don't think people are too precious about his Concord alt-mode.

Not mine, credit goes to @l3x over in the Radicons forum, but still sweet!! Almost sad Botcon's already done their Pre-BW set.

That would have made an amazing Botcon set. Might have been in more demand than Games of Deception.

ya, so Rodimus could lead the other crew (though i was hoping he would show up in a different way, with a flamethrower weapon as Hot Rod)

Wow, that primal version of op looks really good!

I think it would be really cool to show a few other 'crews' here and there (if there was a large scale battle for example); a beast wars/G1 season 3/G2/action master/japanese tf crew etc, BUT I wouldnt want them used as more than a cameo really. It's be cool to maybe give them a couple of lines of something, but I'd rather they're a bit more free and easy with regular characters.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a few regular characters inspired by (for example) Silverbolt or Thunderwing or whoever, but I'd rather see a larger amount of 'new' characters rather than them focusing on 'redoing' (animising?!) previous characters.

[Edit: the first thing that popped into my head when I read the first post was the bit in Shuan of the Dead where they come accross Mat Lucas et al - class!]
