I overheard the news broadcast from a T.V. hanging in the nearby food hall, but I thought it was talking about the Concordia again. I was all like; "Wait, so first that ship gets partially submerged on a rock ledge, and now it's on fire?"

Initial curiosity about the Concordia led me to various rumors that Costa Cruses isn't exactly the best when it comes to keeping up ship maintenance. I guess this just supports those claims.

Well that's a load of ship.

I hope everything goes okay for those on-board.

Oh, turns out this ship isn't actually operated by Costa right now, it's on lease to some french cruise line.

Still, that has GOT to suck for those aboard. The mere fact the main generators are out is much worse than it sounds. Along with no ship propulsion, none of the sanitation systems like restrooms will work.

Fun times are ahead for them. I only hope things turn out okay.

Fun fact: Costa Allegra is in fact a rebuilt container ship. So it's entirely possible.

Although the only thing I can think of that you are referencing is that one NCIS episode on the U.S.S. Chimera.

That joke's older than some people here. :lol

Gotta say, this incident, along with the other one in Italy, must be putting giant dents into Costa's business.

Well, Costa is going to need a miracle if it's going to pull through now. With its biggest ship (Concordia) out of service for at least the rest of the year AND factoring in the salvaging costs of trying to save what's left of it, plus another of it's ships loosing all power in a place where pirate activity has occured, it's almost garunteed that there is going to be some major changes in Costa's operating procedures, if it can escape bankruptcy.

But another thing to look at is the impact on the cruise line industry as a whole. So far, the only cruise line that hasn't had some major incident that I know of within recent years is the Disney Cruise Line of all things. Prices are falling to record lows from what I hear.
