I'm curious as to how they can possibly have a case when nintendo CREATED the gamepad as everyone knows it today.

    You know... on their GAME-AND-WATCH!

Seriously.. I can't find anything on this company.. But I garentee those gamepads where out -way- before this company was.

*rumors are this is a subsiderary of sony, and is an attempt to get settlement money from NIntendo and Microsoft to recover PS3 costs*

Since they're levelling the same suit against Microsoft and Nintendo, I think we can assume this isn't about the Wii controller. Nintendo is using the same technology in the Game Cube that they've been using since 1996, long before 1999. They also use a completely different kind of analog sensor from Microsoft's, I believe, so they can't both infringe on the same patent. This lawsuit smells familiar... ah yes, the smell of bullshit.

In total agreement with the Panther here. It's a "me too" case if ever there was one.

Yep, Sony was the 3rd shooter on the grassy knoll.

I'm inclined to doubt that. I'm thinking they probably assume that the less dominant console manufacturers will be more likely to settle out of court.

Oh, I doubt it too. I was quoting someone else and going for sarcasm. Guess I was too subtle.

No, I was responding to what was in the quotes. I already knew you disagreed with it.

I should have quoted Tigran's post, but I was lazy and yours was still on the screen at the time. I'd have to have scrolled up to find his :p

Don't know about Microsoft but Nintendo clearly has prior art here. Though I'd presume if prior art exists then the patent its self is invalid. Fact is this sort of thing has been going on a lot lately by shady fly by night companies whom find a technology already in use and try to slip through a vauge patent hoping no one will check for prior art then sue later.

All too often because of incompetance on the part of the US patent office, it succeeds, enough to get an out of court settlement.

Suing Nintendo and microsoft was a profoundly stupid idea since both companies are the kind who will fight tooth and nail.

^Neither fought very hard against immersion. Nintendo settled quietly and Microsoft followed suit and then bought stock.

Nintendo didn't settle. They "discussed" and Immersion went home with their tail between their legs, claiming that Nintendo wasn't subject to the suit because they used "different technology". Immersion was smart enough to know they would lose.

That's absurd. Everyone knows in the 60s Sony was too busy faking space launches to get involved in the JFK assassination. Most credible evidence points to Panasonic on the grassy knoll.

Immersion: You fuckers stole our dual motor shit!

    Nintendo: We use one motor.

Immersion: Shit! Sorry, er... who's next on the list? Microsoft? SWEET!
