This would have been a simple dye/paint job, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the figure back together if I simply disassembled Dark Scorp to dye/paint it. So I disassembled a spare Scorponok instead, dyed its parts, then when I was putting the black parts in Zarak I just put the light blue parts in Scorp. (That's what the Scorp picture is, the Dark Scorp blue parts mixed with regular Scorp.)

    Great work there.
How did you dye the parts?
    Boiled?
Did you experience any warping when dying?
Any tips, cause the parts look flawless.

Thanks for the comments. Some information about my methodology here:

custom toys using dye - The Allspark Forums

I use an old fry cooker, let the dye bath get to boiling then unplug it. When it cools enough I reheat it, repeat. Sometimes I do ruin figures with warping unfortunately. Some figures don't take the dye well and they just get a little darker. I don't know until I try it.

Some figures even from the same series (like Cybertron Landmine and Snarl) don't necessarily take the dye to the same degree).

I did something similar EXCEPT the hydraulic struts on the shoulder. I couldn't figure out how to remove them safely. How did you get them off?

I did not actually remove them. It seemed like they were glued on, and I did not want to ruin them. I took the shoulders wholesale from the Energon Scorponok and then gave the Dark Scorponok shoulders to the Energon one.
