To those of you who have an eHobby anime Astrotrain, I have a question. What color/company's purple spray paint would closely match the color used on eHobby Astrotrain? I am planning on doing some work to one and have no idea. I thought some of you might have a recommendation. Thanks!

My recommendation is that you do not paint a toy that sells for $400 on eBay. Buy a reissue Astrotrain and paint the whole thing.

You misunderstand. I have one with flaking paint and plan to stip/primer/repaint the metal pieces that have flaked paint.

Ah, ok. That would have been useful information for the first post.

I didn't figure a full explanation was needed, so I just kept it short and asked for help matching the colors :)

as hard to get as this piece is, coupled with the fact that customizers are a small sect of the overall collector community means that the odds aren't good that you'll find one who's into both and would know the answer. Most likely you'd need a custom mixed color, though, as it's rare for a stock-paint to match a TFs color.

I have to say I'm pretty shocked that you're having paint flaking problems on a toy that's only a few years old.

It is hard to believe, I agree. The person I got it from says it had this problem out of the box!

Where does one go to get custom mixed spray paint? An ordinary paint store, body shop?

mostly do it yourself, through trial-and-error.
