I recall much horror at bulkheads small height and then people trying to explain that he deserves voyager class because of the figures mass which seems not much different than that of any other voyager, hes just short and thick! A while back i suggested weighing (dont start with the weight/mass distinction, i know it!) the figures when they arrive. I have done it with my (lugs, ratchet, cyb prime, BA). Well heres the suprise, nobody cried foul over BA but she weighs in a rather feeble 2 ounces, cybertron prime and ratchet both about 4.5 ounces each and lugnut as short as he is is 7.5 ounces. so $ for ounce looks like BA is one expensive critter!! Lugs at nearly (at a stretch) twice the weight of the deluxes seems about right. Come on, get the scales out, just how heavy is bulkhead (metric or 'imperial')?? and the others maybe, just dont get flour on them!
Bulkhead is a whopping 9 ounces for anyone who wants to know. Movie Ratchet is 10, and Animated SS is about 7.5.
Yeah, was about to post Bulky's weight, but you beat me to it. So, even though he's short he weighs more than Lugnut & Starscream from the same series and is 1 ounce shy of Movie Ratchet who is darned huge for a Voyager!
Yeah, I was actually surprised when I weighed Ratchet. If they weren't all hacked up 'n' customized, I probably would've weighed some other Voyagers as well.
Aw, I was going to do a detailed weight comparison once I got my big Animated order in from HTS. Oh well.
I can play the "go weigh a Transformer" game later if it really matters to anyone. I knew that postal scale would come in handy one of these days.
I didn't even think about weighing Ratchet, but he's a good choice as his weight vs. Bulkhead's really shows what Hasbro is always telling people... it's not the size of the toy, but the amount of plastic used that makes for a size class. Also, I'm not really surprised that BA is so light. She's not really supposed to be weighty. I bet if I go weigh my Lockdown though... he'd weigh close to what she does... maybe a little more though.
i just got a bulkhead and yup, hes 9oz. there was a lot of negative response to the short bulkhead but i guess hasbro had no choice but to make a $20 bulkhead who was out of scale with the other figures, the leader is more or less in scale but is $40 so perhaps out of the range for what most parents will get their kids. At the more affordable $20 price point hes pretty much the biggest bulkhead you can 'squeeze' from 9oz plastic, even just 20% taller and you'd probably have something containing twice the plastic. Aside hes a great toy and at almost 5x the mass of black arachnia represents fairly good value at just twice the price.
Try to weigh 'em all in vehicle mode, considering some have vehicle mode parts that turn into weapons.
