Nice review! TFA Grimlock is one of my favorite ever TF toys (and certainly my favourite Animated figure). I found the build quality to be superbly solid and reassuringly "Chunky". Gotta love the Trap-Jaw look too.

I've got to say, I think I prefer the Western release of Grimlock. The colour sceme is obviously more homagey on the Takara version, but I like the darker colours of the western grimlock, and as you pointed out, the colours match up a lot better.

On a side note, does anyone know when Animated Rodimus and Ironhide are going to find their way out of release-date limbo? Poor fellas, they're just waiting to be loved!

That's a good review of a good figure.

Peaugh, please tell me what you used to colour Grimlock's sword.

Excellent review. I really like the new paint scheme even if it's not cartoon accurate. Once I get him, I'll probably keep him in 'bot mode next to my original version which will stay in dino mode.

It was just a black sharpie paint pen, actually.

    Thanks for the advice.

I used a sharpie and made my Grimlock's sword look as good as yours.
