    Animated Springer (Completed!)

    UPDATE: Just letting you guys know that this guy is now on Ebay;
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/160714449305?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

    Hey gang,
    I've followed this forum for while, done several mods, but never posted any of them. Figured I would share my current project: Animated Springer. I went by Derrick J Wyatt's drawing of Springer's head in Allspark Almanac 2. Resculpted Sentinel's head into Springer's (I may try doing a 3D model through Shapeways at some point). Removed the plow from the front of the truck mode and added a new bumper from styrene and Fixit Sculpt. I've added a spinner under the shield so I can attach two halves of his sword to make a faux helicopter mode. (Yeah, I know it's not quite a third mode, but he'll be able to fly :wink:  )

    UPDATE 4-3:FINISHED!! Woot!

    UPDATE 4-2: Finally figured out the mechanics of the spinning shield blade! Woot! Finishing up the painting now, hope to have final images up tomorrow!
    UPDATE 3-30: Almost there!! Need to do some touch-up painting and STILL gotta figure out a good way to get the sword/blades thing to work;

    UPDATE 3-24: Finally got to start adding some base color!

    UPDATE 3-24: Haven't had a ton of time this week to work on him BUT, I did add his crest which had been pointed out as missing - headsculpt is "done" and he's been taken apart for painting!

    Also continued working on the mechanic of his sword with spinning shield that convert to helicopter blades for his faux 3rd mode

    Interesting choice of mold consider no Helicopter mode is allowed for Animated.

    :thumb  I can't wait to see the final product.

    This is looking really good! Maybe if clearance isn't an issue you can add some more bulk to his chin and bring it out then square off the edges like in your concept (which is killer by the way!)

    Oh its such a shame the Sentinel mould has such crappy legs...the sentinel body form is an awesome choice for Springer

    this is looking good. But looking at your head mold, I can't help but think of some of the animated seeker heads.

    Would it not have been easier to cut off the chin off of one of the seekers and roud it off?

    just throwing an idea out there lol..

    Im liking this...keep up the good work :D

    Looking at the Seeker head compared to his bulk, the head would have felt a bit tiny with the body. I did take some feedback from Nyarlahotep, and reworked his chin - made it more substantial.

    excellent!...after looking again at the animtad seeker heads, although, IMO, the right kinda shape, is a bit small and thin.

    Good job so far! keep it up, and by no means was I trying to critisize your work, I have never attempted anything on any transformers. I was just trying to help out :D

    This is looking better and better! My only crit at this point would be to add the little half sphere between the crown and just under the head wing like you have in your concept. (It has the little upside down triangle) and maybe flare out the crown itself to match the concept, but at this point you could do without.

    It's just nit picking but I think it gives the design the right balance of complexity. It reads REALLY well as animated as is, and I can't wait to see this painted.

    If you want I can let you borrow my sanding block and some wet sand paper so you can put a bevel on the sword blades and maybe smooth out the head if it needs it. Just let me know!

    Really looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
