For more pics see here: http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w306/magnusprime_bucket/

    What I did:
    1) Used plates from walmart version of striker
    2) Used Oil Slick fingers as spikes
    3) Removed flames (I hate those)
    4) Removed horns from bot head, filling the big whole in the front with putty
    5) Painted head black, face all light grey, removed blue paint to allow orange light piping. It looks really good in person.
    6) Obvious work to dinohead, including grinding his lower jaw to less of a hook, and painting it gold.
    7) Painted club Gray, then black on the high areas, then a silver mist from far away to give a rock like appearance. Not sure how successful I was...not that the photos show it very well anyway

I tried to give him a colder, more stone/metallic look than Slag. I let slag have all the reads and oranges. Also, the tail no longer rotates due to interference from two plates.

I still may do some paint touchups on the dino, and bot head. I'm also thinking I'll leave the tail spikes the bone-like color they already are.

Well its turing out very nicely indeed!! he really looks like a Stego lol
    Any plans 4 his weapon?
    or a Sludge?
And as 4 the MAkeing the head more presentible, id say just sand it down n put sculpty putty around it n then just shape it :)

Looks great!! :thumbs2: Where'd ya find the Stego-plates? They look great! I see your dilemma, too. The plates actually work pretty well in that color! Are you gonna change the face at all? Keep us posted on this one!:thumbs2:

dang. shame his tail doesn't angle up, he'd be pretty much perfecto. really nice job so far man. I think I'd still paint the plates gold, while it looks good as it is in dino mode, its a little distracting in bot mode.

I'm seriously considering doing something similar to that, and then making an Ankliosaurus out of it too. I have a couple of ideas on how to get the tail to angle upwards in dino-mode, though I'm not sure if it would work or not. I've got a different idea for the dino head though. Good work so far. Where'd you get the plates from? Good luck with finishing him. I'd paint the plates gold (goes much better with the rest of the color scheme). Personally I'm hoping Hasbro makes a Stegosaurus and an Apatosaurus (Sludge) for us.

I have wanted an ankylosaurus for years, but havn't found a way to get even close. The best I can see is a shellformer, which is pointless. The beast wars line has a crappy one.

I got the plates from the walmart version of Striker, from the beast wars line.

Interesting, looking good! Another good animated custom.

If it were me, i'd go for the gold on the plates over the orange; possibly a silver or chrome look, actually.

I say leave them as well!! I like the color the plates are now. If you want a different color set of plates, get them off the striker repaint. I know one version of this mold had the gold or bronze colored plates

Updated with all new pics. I did end up painting the plates gold as you can see. I think it was the right thing to do, though either way would've worked.

Yeah, I really didn't like that aspect, but I couldn't avoid it.
