Got this awesome guy in the mail today, along with Generations Darkmount!

Vehicle mode is pretty much what you'd expect from Hot Rod/Rodimus, a nice Animated version of his classic self:

He looks good with his previous counterparts:

If you want, you can also attach his double energon bow to the roof of the car. It looks a little silly, I think, but hey, it has to go somewhere!

A look at the underside shows how he folds up quite uniquely:

A few quick flips and tabs and you've got him in robot mode! He can hold his bow in either hand. Visually he's every bit Hot Rod/Rodimus, as filtered through the mind of Derrick Wyatt. Very stylish, so very cool:

While his vehicle mode was the smallest of the three hot Rod molds, his robot form is the largest. Another testament to the Animated style mixed with modern toy engineering.

Although the name was changed to Rodimus Minor for the toy's sake, he looks good with his fellow Primes!

Just a quick note that some of the pictures above have the red tab on his back still folded up. It should actually be flipped down in bot mode as seen here on his back:

    Video review is available here:

The lighting decided to screw with me a bit, but nothing too bad. Oh well.

All in all, a great addition to the Animated line, and a shining example of how much it sucks that we won't be getting any more once the final figures trickle out. I loved the show, I love the toys, and I'm sad to see it go. Animated Rodimus is a great example of what made the series awesome, and it's definitely worth hunting down and picking up when it hits shelves later this year.

    In Summary:

    PROS

    -Great Likeness
    -Fun Transformation
    -nice poseability

    CONS

-Legs are slightly small (or the shoulders are just a little too massive)
-Rear of car is open (like Animated Blurr). It's a minor quibble, and not that noticeable, but it's there.

    Requested Pics:

Also got a couple pics in robot and vehicle mode with Cybertron Prime, since I know people will eventually ask (and I just felt like playing with Cyb. Prime):

Man, I love how often Animated pulls off a mass-shift optical illusion.

It's a bit of a personal era-ender to me. Remember back, way back, in the Animated crackhead thread when we were all caving in on loose $30 Bulkheads and Starscreams from ebay because the show turned out to be awesome? Everyone was waiting for heero to get Prowl or Lockdown, Aaron got his solid red Bulkhead...good times.

Not to say it can't happen again with another show, but that whole phenomena was the opening months of the Animated experience to me, outside of the pilot. :lol

Man, those were the days. Yeah, I remember that first wave wait, everyone was flowing freely except for Lockdown and Prowl, arguably still a couple of the best figs in the line. And that first auction for Lugnut, revealing his robot mode to be....fun-sized. Ah, the good old days.

Lol. I think only Sean paid $400 for a Blitzwing. I remember the price on him dropped FAST after that first one sold.

And yeah, looking forward to the Crystal set of Animated Optimus and Rodimus. Two great figures in awesome decos.

Damn, that can't come soon enough. Hopefully he and Ironhide will be easier to find than Arcee.

I remember when he complained when you made a first youtube review of a figure (can't remember which one, I guess probablly a movie one, if it was any other toyline, I'd probably remember) and how he blew a huge amount of cash on the figure, hoping to be the first one to review it on youtube. What a crybaby.

Pretty sure that was the fans of the reviewer who goes by the name of silverbolt (but not the reviewer himself).

    and regardless, it's really off-topic.

this topic is for basking in rodimus' warm glowing warming glow.

I know spending an extra $10 to get Cybertronian Prime a few weeks early isn't on the same level as a $400 Blitzwing, but I thought I should at least throw that out there. :lol

Excellent looking figure, cannot wait to get him.

For the record Peaugh, I really like the addition of Pros and Cons. Personally, I hope you keep these in your pictorial reviews.

A 100% unbiased opinion here, ladies and gentlemen. ;)

You're thinking of ROTF Soundwave. And regardless of which figure it was, Valkysas hit it on the head:

    Yeah.

Awesome, hopefully Peaugh getting this means the street date of August is somewhat accurate so him & Ironhide should be out soon.
