Today I was given Animated Rodimus Minor for doing well on mid-terms, which i like BTW and after fiddling around with him, I noticed he had a swirl on his spoiler. I remember Hasbro saying something about curing GPS, But I'm not sure as we still continue to see swirling gold plastic on figures.

Do any of your Rodimus's have a swirl on his golden spoiler? Also Does the Takara Verion have a swirly Spoiler?

Even in the unlikely event that it does have GPS in the future, it's the spoiler. It remains stationary throughout transformation, so it seems unlikely that it would break.

No, it's not the right kind of gold plastic.

Its not the same stiff, brittle gold plastic that is commonly associated with GPS. Roddy's spoiler is more of a flexible polythene (I think) style plastic, so he should be safe. And no, the swirls can't be removed.

TFA Rodimus' plastic on the gold spoiler is missing the small flecks of gold (it was like glitter was mixed in with the plastic) that is present on the GPS afflicted figures .

Yeah, but some somewhat-recent figures do suffer from it, like Micromaster Superion and Protoform Starscream.

Those are the last known cases of it, though.

The figure to watch for "current" GPS is leader starscream. He's got some scary looking chunks on him, but hopefully hasbro's right about it.

No, the swirls can't be removed as they form during manufacturing so they're in the plastic itself. You can paint the spoiler to hide them, but that's pretty much it.

He could be. Him and Starscream are basically a test of the new plastic they're using.

    That'll be no great loss.

But anyone who cares about the mortality of the mold can at least retain one of the repaints. I haven't had any trouble with Protoform Starscream (fingers crossed), but I never understood why they didn't do seeker repaints from that mold.
