I do not have Animated Prowl yet, but will get him soon. I would like to know if the gold parts on Prowl are sculpted gold plastic or painted on. What about his shurikens?

Do you think Prowl will be a victim of Gold-Plastic-Syndrome? Thanks.

Nah. I don't think he'll succumb to GPS. It's the really shiny gold plastic where you can actually see the flecks of gold coloring in it that's usually the culprit. On Prowl it's just kind of a dark yellow/caramel colored plastic. It's only on his thighs, shuriken blades and backs of the shuriken anyway.

I thought I remember hearing something about how GPS really isn't a problem for new figures anymore, that whatever the problem was was fixed.

    Dunno. Might be wrong ;)

Thanks for your replies. However, after breaking my Star Wars Crossovers Millenium Falcon (specifically Chewbacca) I am not so assured.

    So anymore opinions?

That was released about four years ago.

It was this year that Hasbro said they have corrected the problem.

Yes, but Prowl was released last year, 2008. Even the Chewbacca I mentioned was released in 2007, not too far apart!

GPS shouldn't be an issues any longer for new figs but there may be some rare cases so i seriously doubt Ani Prowl will be a victim

Very well, I truly hope so. Prowl is not a figure I'd like to see break apart on me.

I need to ask, is his windshield (chest piece) gold plastic or black plastic painted gold? Same question for the wheel rims. Thanks!

Thanks. I'll try to trust Hasbro/Takara on this. Really hope that trust is well founded. Prowl looks awesome.

I don't think it should be too much of a problem if at all.

    So, NO.

GPS still existed as of 2007, with protoform starscream (I'm on #2 now)

but yeah, like said many times, prowl doesnt have any of the offending plastic.

    Let's hope it's true!

I didn't say anything about prowl. He might get GPS, he might not. It doesn't really matter how far apart the years were, sicne they apparently recognized the issue this year, and fixed it this year. I wouldn't worry about anything 2009 and onwards. I would be careful with pre-2009 figures, though.

But so far, neither my Chewbacca nor my Prowl have had any GPS problems.

My Protoform Starscream shows no signs of GPS thus far.

Also, keep in mind that GPS does NOT mean "plastic breaks under stress".

GPS means "plastic crumbles into tiny shards and dust under minimal pressure".

I know. standing on a shelf, occasionally being posed, his knees shattered.

and everywhere there was a screw, there were cracks.

he broke without me really touching him.

    that's GPS.

I have silverbolt from the magnaboss set. he broke from pretty much the same thing. same with G2 electro.

I'm very familiar with what is and is not GPS.

To my understanding, signs of GPS start to show years after the toy has been released. I could be wrong though.

Well I hope that if Prowl has GPS if any, he'll last at least a good 12 years.
