This was my first attempt at dyeing a transformer. Came out okay, the color got a little dark in some areas. Some of the edges look like they have grease stains on them. looks like i weathered him on purpose. As you can tell i used the animated cybertron ratchet. I trimmed the horns off his head and trimmed the sides a little. Added some guns from my parts box and named him Hard Head. I like the way he came out, he fits in with the rest of my animated line and helps to keep that line going for me. Hope y'all enjoy and thanks for taking a look.

how do you dye him, i think the green paint looks ace, it reminds me of the factory paint they slap on, (does the paint from dyeing scrape of easy ? or is it more durable like the factory paint?)
if dyeing is cool, i might dye my classics sideswipe head red to make red alert

Dying changes the color of the plastic. IT is not paint.

The custom is spot on. I like it alot.

the green is paint the gray is RIT dye. basically you just put the dye in a pot on the stove, add some water bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat. I use a strainer to dip the part into the dye. only hold in the dye for about 20 seconds at a time or you might warp the plastic. the more amount of time in the dye the darker the shade will be. Ratchet was a good figure to dye being that he is mostly white. Also not all plastis accept dye.

And thanks for the kind words, i'm really happy how he turned out

That is the slickest use of that mold I've seen yet. Very armored tank looking. He could use a visor, but that's more for show.

This is really very cool. I love thea fact that took advantage of the white plastic and dyed it. That always looks so much better. If I ever get any more free time I just may have to add this project to my Animated ranks. Unicron sized thumbs up dude!

Where'd you get the gray guns from? I have one just like them, but never knew the original source.
