I'd like to ask everyone what they think of the new animated Grimlock. I have to say that just looking at pics that it is probably the best Grimlock toy ever.

They basically took the transformation from the G1 toy and made the whole thing better.

I know there's members on here who might take my statement personally and say "G1 Grimlock all the way." But, if you look at the G1 and the animated toy, the animated Grimlock does G1.......but better.

I'm not talking about character personality either. I'm talking a toy for toy comparison.

So what do you think? Is animated Grimlock the best one ever? If not, which Grimlock do you prefer?

i have always been just a collector of CONS, but animated is the first line i wanted the BOTS, they all just look so good together. I love this toy alot. Grimlock has only had his G1 mold and classics over 20 years. So I think this is the best mold ever for him.

Side note? You in Chicago? Go White Sox!

I live on the east coast now but, I was born and raised in Chicago as a die-hard White Sox fan/Cubs hater.

Animated Grimlock really is great. Definitely the best mold ever for Grimlock.

I really liked my animated Grimlock for about 10 seconds then I noticed he had two right arms. Now it's back to looking for another one for me.

Comparing Animated toys to the previous incarnations just doesn't work for me. It's a totally different aesthetic. The G1 version is still the best, with that said. I think Hasbro, of all the Classics, really missed the boat on Grimlock's mold. Such a shame.

I will probably pick up an Animated Grimlock if I see one, in part because he brings to mind the G1 version. But, I don't really care for the cartoony underbite. It looks kind of goofy to me. I know he has a goofy personality (or did in the original cartoon, anyway. I haven't seen him in the new one), but that doesn't mean that he has to look the part. G1 is still the best, by far, in my mind.

    G1 toy is more solid.
On a side note Grim needs more air time on the show.

I MUST admit, even tho I despise "Animated" and all it stands for, the new Grimlock does look sweet...

...just need to ditch that stupid lookin sword. Like why couldnt they just make it all red or Black , and leave the fiery Jello crap off?

i really prefer animated grimlock over every other incarnation i have of him. he's my favorite animated toy out of all the 1st & 2nd wave and is even better than my animated jazz. we'll see if any animated toy can take his place.

Looks good, and I'm excited for the new Animated style and the direction the show seems to be going in, but I still like my robots to be a bit more robot-y.

Just as a side note, how many Grimlocks have there been actually?

    G1
    Pretender
    G2
    Energon
Heroes/Legends of Cybertron (I can't really remember the name, but you know, those little pvc figures)
    Alternators
    Classics
    Animated
    3" Titanium
6" WWI Titanium (I'm pretty sure I saw a prototype of this, but did it ever come out?)
Walmart repaint of BW Dinobot (in the Armada line, I think)
Wasn't one of the RiD Build Team guys called Grimlock?

    Am I missing anything?

Either way, if Animated Grimlock isn't the best ever, he's certainly very high on the list. :)

While I think the Animated Grimlock is great(considering I don't really have much interest in animated) I still think I prefer G1 to it.

I hated, hated, hated, HATED G1 Grimlock. He was dumb, arrogant, and in season three he turned into a crybaby retard. BUT, I do kinda like the look of his toy to Animated Grimlock, though IMO, yes, TF:A Grimlock is the best ever.

No way, is a cool figure but nothing can compare with the original IMO.
