This guy looks amazing. I wish he can use his rotors as swords. But then, he's armed to the teeth already. Pity his size doesn't do him justice.

What is the deal with these midget Voyagers? Someone eitheir ask at the next Hasbro Q & A or remind me to do so.

His toy is too small because his character is too big!

They don't want to make him in a bigger size class, but they still want him to have his correct proportions.

Would you rather have a really tall, yet skinny blackout?

WHOO on Blackout.

BOO on him not coming out until 2010 (though I suspected as much).

WOW

Spectacular figure.
I've been in animated withdrawl for a while.
This relieves some of it.
Hope to see more figs soon.

Oh and if you look at the full gallery via the link in
first post, you'll see that rotor will just clear tail.

Thanks for pics, GenZhao.

I think this is one of the few times I actually like the head more from the movie toy than the animated one, still aside from the walrus looking face he looks pretty good, put me down for a few.

*choirs chimes in* HALLELUJAH!!!  HOT DAM! that really is animated blackout! holy crap! he seems near perfect to me! they got rid of that horrible push-the-button-spin-the-rotor gimmick that movie blackout suffered so much from. and the Gatling cannons! love how much detail was put in. he really dose look like what movie blackout would look like in the animated-verse.

INSTANT BUY! :thumbs2:

To all the people crying for a "show-accurate" blackout: He IS.

Check the Animated resources thread for a Size Comparison pic, Derrick Wyatt draw Blackout's earth mode there, and he looks just like the toy.

If Animated didn't have to be rushed to a close ending, I bet Blackout - and all of Strika's team - would have come to Earth and had Earth modes.

What, you don't pick up Oil Slick either because he's not "show accurate"? :)

As for his size - couldn't care less. I love this toy, and size indifferences have been an integral part of TFs since G1 (just compare Devastator next to Ultra Magnus and you'll see).

What I'm wondering is, whether the tail can be stored on his back in robot mode, same way you could do with Lugnut.

I think thats the coolest coptor mode, and very awesome bot mode, unfortunately paired with an ugly head.

Seeing it side-by-side with the movie toy, I can say "Wow, it really is the cartoon version of Blackout!". The toys are even near-identical height. :)  The "shortnut" syndrome is unfortunate, but there's no way anyone should have expected otherwise. I would have liked a little darker and/or bolder color scheme, but it's still a definite buy - whenever.

I think the bigger issue is the fact that "stolen Chinese test-shots" for new Animated toys are finally appearing, implying that they are being produced (or lines are ramping up), implying there's a plan or means or whatever to get them on the shelves (in 2010 it seems)

Would anyone have complained if Hasbro used one of the year's leader class molds on a Leader Class blackout instead of ROTF megasuck?

Animated Blackout, I assume?

Johnator would complain - probably others.

I wouldn't though.

He looks pretty good, tiny, but darn if you can't feel THE POWER!
