I have some books listed on Amazon, and just sold one. When the money was posted to my account I thought "Wow, that seems too low..."

Here's the breakdown for my $20.00 book

    $.99 "Your item sold fee"
$1.35 "Your item was a book" fee
$3.00 "15% of item price" fee.

Total: $5.34 which is MORE THAN 25% OF MY INITIAL ASKING PRICE.

And I have some textbooks listed on there for $1-$3!?! I would lose money if any of them sold!

Jeez. I mean sure the convenience of getting rid of crap is nice but HOLY CARP.

Also: in their TOS it says that you're not allowed to list the same items on any other website for less than what you listed them on Amazon (ie: if you have your own domain/website/store).

I'm sure I'm not the first to complain, but I just had to say something somewhere and vent. WTF.

Well at least they don't take a cut of the money you get for shipping costs. eBay does now.

Amazon has preset limits on what you can charge for shipping so doing whats been done on Ebay won't work.

Huh. Recently I bought a book for $0.01 (that's right, 1 cent!). I wonder how fees worked into that.
