Loving this so far!
Here's a one off I did a while back called Shiners, a parody of Cheers. Thought I'd make more but never did. I might use the setting in ATTF some day, so figure I might as well add it here.
I'd love to see more like this.
I was planning on doing something special for #30, but there's a bigger project I want to work on for an issue a little further down the line, so here's a short one for #30.
ORNAC?! IT'S GRIDON!!!
Guridon! Guridon! Gu-Ri-Don! GURIDON!
KAMEN RIDER GRID-
Guess Birth's a turtle dispenser now.
I spy a G1 Bumblebee in the background! ... That is my way of ignoring where the turtle came from...
Wonder if the Dinobots would fight say the Power Rangers, or the 3RD Party Dinobots......
So this is what Masked Rider Gaim's chew toy was reduced to: working at a toy shop and interviewing with a walking capsule machine like Masked Rider Birth.
Oh. And Guridon: he takes Cell Medals.
Clearing up a few things:
1) The toy store's name is Ornac's Toys. The store is ran by Kamen Rider Gridon (Armored Rider Gridon if you want to be full on pedantic about it). Probably should've made it more clear in the comic, but I didn't want to make it longer.
2) Also if we're being nitpicky, that's Kamen Rider Proto Birth.
3) Darn, I forgot to put a metal umlaut somewhere.
I totally forgot that I had a better look at Ornac's Toys to show in the last post.
I think I made myself sad with my own comic.
If the one, the only, the legendary Toys'R'Us is closing up shop all 'round the countryside, might as well give its mascot Geoffrey one last heartfelt hug before leaving the toy store for the last time (preferably with whatever Transformers toys in hand). Shortround did with Longrack. The toy stores may close, femmes and gentlemechs, but the memories last. And Then They Fight (On).
Simply amazing what a hackmeister with a 2-hour made-for-TV hate letter masquerading as a galactic blockbuster written in half a day can do with a 40 year old sci-fi franchise and a toy store chain old as America.
That's what you get for selling the Star Wars Universe to Disney, George Lucas.
And regarding the Masked Rider Gaim VS Date Masamune fight, hope they can clone a new head for the latter after that Musou Saber mishap serving as both PSA and Nerf commercial...
Rest in peace, Toys R Us. It lived a toy store, and died an icon.
Re-edited an old comic. This was originally made around the time of ROTF. Would've done a complete remake, but I don't have that tiny Prime anymore.
The wonders of electronics in toys, eh?
He gonna rip off your face if you're not careful.
Shortround, an LCAC Transformer nerd, having technical difficulties transforming a Revenge of the Fallen-Era Optimus Prime toy.
Taste the bite of that finger-lickin' delicious irony, boils and gargoyles.
I have something to talk about below, but first a new comic.
Issue 37 of And Then They Fight will be something special, possibly the longest comic I've ever made. Before ATTF, I had a different comic called TAOWAR: The Adventures of W. and Raider. The first issue of And Then They Fight was actually meant as a special one shot of TAOWAR. In fact, the characters in that issue are major characters in TAOWAR.
What does this have to be with issue 37 of ATTF? Well, I ended issue 36 of TAOWAR on a cliffhanger and that was the last issue. I want to fix that. Issue 37 of ATTF will also be issue 37 of TAOWAR. There is a problem with this, none of you guys have read TAOWAR and the places hosting the old comics are a mix of dead image hosts and dead forums. There is over 300 image files of TAOWAR in total, about half of which are the core story.
So, with all of that said, I want to make TAOWAR available again before issue 37. Starting tomorrow, I will be posting one comic of TAOWAR a day.
-It's worth noting that this comic was started in April of 2007, 11 years ago. Some images have degraded over the years and I will not be re-editing these comics beyond some cleaning and spelling errors.
-I will be adding some commentary/notes below each comic of how I feel about them now.
-I plan to only do story related comics for now. There were a lot of one off "Filler Funnies" and specials that have no bearing on the story.
-At some point, I plan to turn the first post of the thread into an archive with direct image links to every comic image. This will be for both ATTF and TAOWAR to keep things organized.
-I'm not skipping ATTF #34, 35, or 36. They will be either new comics as they come to me or I may re-edit a few of those Filler Funnies I don't plan to re-release at this time.
-If you're wondering, Issue 37 is about halfway done and I just finished editing page 19. I told you it's going to be long.
So, see you all tomorrow for my biggest and best mistake.
I love this one.
I'm also interested in hearing your plans. Do any Transformers show up in TAOWAR, or is it just based in a different franchise?
Short answer: Yes, Transformers exists in TAOWAR. Along with a lot of other things. They aren't always the main focus, but they exist. Little tease, the first season is titled The Leader-1 Saga.
