I had no idea people did this on this kind of scale. I wonder if ALL the repackaged toys have been these people, or if its a small group that does it on the same scale, or if these two were just the kings of this form of petty theft?

The details in the story sounds awfully familiar...

A different take on Lego theft story earlier this year.

It would have been more interesting if they had kept all that Lego, and had built everything in their home with the pieces.

Is Lego such an easy target?

    Sad.

I was more interested in this:

"139 Toys R Us stores in 27 States"

So was this their "Job?" Traveling around the U.S. doing this shit? Imagine doing this as your main job (still crap though, since you are stealing), but your side job was to look for Transformers. lol Then you post here saying "I've been to 139 TRU's and STILL can't find "Insert Transformer Here!"

I'd love to see Hollywood remake this into a feature length film.

    :lol

Have you seen the prices for Lego sets? As a Lego fan, I'm amazed on how little you get for so much money.

How stupid could you be to actually use the Rewards card on stuff that you're stealing? Glad these morons finally got caught.

The other thing too is the size of the box in proportion to what's inside. Theoretically you could actually fit several of the boxes for the smaller sets inside the bigger ones without removing the contents.

Might not be anything "new" by our standards, but the Lego one especially made me laugh, and its nice to see an actual scalper get brought out into the open for a change instead of the usual Vehicon related banter or whatever.

Edit - Also, did this remind anyone else of that story where the dude found a lego up his nose that'd been there for a long time?

Do you think he accidentally gave someone the wrong TRU card?

oops, that's my Thieves R Us card. here's my Toys R Us card....

actually the idea of being rewarded for stealing is what would make me want to hang these people.
it's like salt on a wound. we stole from ya, but here's our rewards card...pay up. ugh.

I saw this on the news, and they had some vids showing them leaving some of the stores with lots of packages, but I never heard them explain how they had the TIME to open the boxes, make the exchanges and never get caught. In my TRU, seems like there's an employee in every aisle to ask you if you need help.

    Glad they were finally caught...:thumb
