Weaving Doesn't Know Much About the Transformers Movies - Superhero Hype!
well holy crap, i was going to post this 2 minutes ago!
Not surprising, this is par for the course when getting Hollywood voice talent.
wtf he never saw the first movie, and he never kenw they were maknig tf3
I call bullshit on this...
This made my night.
this is amusing...but still considering he's basically clueless about what's going on.
he does a superb job of acting.
You think a guy who gets called to do a voice acting job would at least look at the finished product at least once..
In before "Dur, this nevar wulduv hapened if Frank Welker wuz voicing Megatron! Long liv dur GeeWunn!"
Also, in before someone takes offense to the above quote, even though it's obvious that I don't hate G1 and everyone who likes it.
This kind of thing sums up the whole movie enterprise to me. Even so, I find it incredible Weaving and Bay have never met. Just shows how little priority is placed on the personalities and characterisation of the Transformers.
He's in it for the paycheck, not because he's a fan like us. He's an actor and it's a job. I don't hold his disinterest against him. Plus, he's not going to defend something that's been so critically panned for the last eight months.
I have a really hard time believing the part where he says that he's never met Bay. On the DVD of the first one you see him doing the voice over and he says "thank you Michael...good luck with the movie" after finishing his lines and he does so while looking towards the window where the voice coach/director would be. It's not like he left a video message via the camera that was filming him, he would have looked directly into the frame and spoken directly to "us".
This is no anomaly - lots of actors end up not watching their movies after completing work on it.
Doesn't affect how awesome a voice he gives to Megs, so I don't find it shocking.
I can't say I'm too surprised to read about this.
Hugo Weaving never really struck me as a guy who'd be involved in Transformers, not like Cullen or anything, but I never would've imagined it'd be to this extent.
This is the textbook definition of a phone-in performance.
bay sayed that he never meet hugo too, bay was in Apple iChat when hugo was recording his lines on australia (movie 1 and rotf)
wholly shit. he hadnt even seen the first one? you'd think not being into the movie at all would make his voice work less believable. but he totally rawked that shit.
