Is it wrong to assume that Hasbro has been working closely with the script writers and have given them detailed descriptions of each character and their specific traits without necessarily divulging names?

Well, since it was apparently wrong to assume that Hasbro would even give the writers the names, I'd say ANYTHING'S possible now -- for better or worse.

Sounds like a pretty reasonable security measure on the part of Hasbro and Bay.

Oh whatever. This just sounds like overkill to me. On the other hand... not having Scorponok right away might be nice. Maybe he'll be a bug.

I agree. I am looking forward to this movie even though I don't think it's going to do that great in the first place. But for the first time in waiting for this movie, this Michael Bay comment worries me.

Throughout all the hoopla surrounding this film, I've bounced between beeing stoked and beeing kinda worried time and time again, so whatever news comes our way, I'm just gonna say 'let's wait 'till the end result.'

Hehe, cool I actually got something front-paged!

    And no problem. :D

I'm getting more and more hyped about this movie as it gets closer. There's alot of hear-say and rumour going around and it's good to hear some facts from the true sources.

Makes me wonder if the actors aren't actually cast as humans, but as Transformers themselves. I did say that there seemed to be an awful lot of humans in this movie. It was beginning to feel like "Mars Attacks" with it's ensemble.

Every new tidbit of news makes me care less and less.

I've said it before. I'll probably see this movie at least once, regardless of how nice or completely crap it might be, so I might as well take the wait-and-see attitude.

We've had about 10 confirmed actors. Most of them for small parts. It's a TWO HOUR LONG LIVE ACTION MOVIE SET ON EARTH INVOLVING HUMANS - there will be lots of human actors.

Considering the writers have apparently mentioned scripting with the original voices for characters in mind (I'm sure Angelophile will be along at some point, but failing that ask him here)... I suspect Bay is just engaging in a bit of late damage control.

    Hmmm... let's do the math.

    10 Actors
    + 10 Transformers (5 Autobots and 5 Decepticons)
    =20 Characters in a 2 hour movie.

Approx. time for Character development of each: 6 minutes if each character is given exactly the same amount of on-camera respect.

Yeah... sounds more and more like "Mars Attacks!" all right. Might I remind people that this movie is called "The Transformers", not "Transformers Attack!". It should be from the robot's POV, not the other way around.

10 actors - a lot of them small parts. Bernie gets maybe 1 or 2 minutes selling a car. A lot of the soldiers probably talk for a bit and then get killed.

We have been told that there's about 4 different storylines running at once - I would guess maybe the Spike one, the secret government one, the soldiers in Iraq one, and then maybe the Autobots. Of course all of the stories will probably tie into the TF's and involve them.

The thing I find entertaining is how bay "finds it tiresome" to read things that the fans complain about.

Get used to it, bub. You and Murphy have chosen to open yourselves to a select fandom and request their opinions on things. Instead of going the closed-door route, you've done something surprisingly philanthrophic for the Transformers community and allowed us, in some small part, to be involved in influencing the opinions of the Hollywood heavies involved in this major motion picture.

For that, at least I think, we will be very thankful when the final film comes out, for there will likely be some elements in the film that were heavily-enough influenced by fans that we, the contributing members of the fandom can say, "Hey, remember when we talked about that? Awesome, they put it in the movie!"

So, although we thank you, I have to warn you:

Some fans bitch and whine. F***ing deal.

I think he's more tired of the whining and complaining about al the unsubstantiated rumours by those who automatically believe they are facts.

Regardless of who he's tired of, his response reminds me of most first-time users to the internet. "Anonymous people on a website said mean things about me/my production/things I've said, therefore I must them seriously."

Honestly, it seems to me like Bay has a bit to learn about communicating and interacting with people on message boards.
