Just stumbled on some articles. A lot of people are talking about the possible clip recycling for TF3.

Michael Bay May Have Used Old Movie Clips In Transformers 3 (VIDEO, POLL)

Recycled Bayhem: Transformers 3 reused a chase scene from The Island

Transformers 3: Did Michael Bay recycle footage from The Island? | Mail Online

CA Computer Recycling – CAComputerRecycling.com – Information About Computer Recycling In California | CA Computer Recycling

Did Bay actually do that? Is he allowed to? According to the articles he has to have permission from the studio with the rights the film.

Interesting. What do you guys think? And if its true, is clip recycling a good or bad thing?

They did that out respect for the extra who was injured during this scene... least that is the word on the street.

I think they changed the title to "Dark of the Moon" along the way.

They used part of the film from the Island for TF3 out or respect for the injured extra? So....they couldn't use the original scene they filmed because because the female extra was injured during that scenes filming?

At least he was the director for both films, and it was a seamless transition.

Plus, if freaking Disney is allowed to recycle crap all over the place (YouTube - ‪Disney's Recycled Animation‬‏), I think we can cut Bay a little slack for two scenes less than three seconds long.

Not a big deal, from a fan and viewer's standpoint. It was only a mere few seconds.
Though the rights holders may take a different view. But that's not our problem.

Not sure it was a matter of they couldn't , but rather they decided not to. Plus the extra that was injured sued paramount so maybe some legal things got in the way...but who knows.

It's a little weird, but I don't care. Didn't affect the movie one bit.

Shots, angles, entire scenes are recycled in film. It's a common thing. Bay is known for making his movies on-or-ahead of schedule and under budget. He probably figured, he has some great chase scene footage in his archive he can interweave with new footage, and save some money to spend on other stuff.

I saw both movies, and frankly, unless someone pointed it out, I never woulda known.

But this kind of thing is common in entertainment in general. Care to know much much geometry in Mass Effect 1 is recycled from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? A lot more than you probably realize.

People are acting like this has never happened before.

Scenes are re-used in movies and cartoons all the time. Saves money and time.

Why does it matter? It's not like a whole entire scene is re-used.
Besides, they used it in a nice way for most people to not even notice.

Besides, using that scene was indeed more respectful: The extra got crippled for life, man.

What happened? Everyone is talking about it being out of respect.

Can anyone fill me in as to what happened with this scene in the Island?

If I'm not mistaken, while filming the chase, an extra got hit by a failing cable [due a bad weld], leaving the extra permanently brain damaged and paralyzed on the left of her body.

I don't care. The road scene in DOTM was pretty damn awesome, and I didn't notice it was "reused".

Though the only thing I noticed was..I think....during Optimus and Sentinel's first fight....they reused the Megatron sound clip when he got blasted in the face in ROTF, sounds like Megatron is screaming "MAH FAAAAACE"
