Well I think the clue is in the phrase
    Anyway.
Overkill, thy name is MPAA. Such actions do nothing except make them look like even bigger assholes than most people think they already are. Yes, DLing movies is illegal. But to have the plug pulled on an entire town over one downloader? Go fuck yourselves. Seriously. Scaremongering bullshit strongarm tactics. Nothing more. Personally I hope the rest of the town bands together and sues the living shit out of them; maybe it'll make them think more carefully about how they handle matters like this.

And yet the only source the article cites mentions no such thing. If the writer of the article has further information, he should post it. If not, he's just pulling crap out of his ass to justify the "oh noes, teh MPAA is teh evil" bullshit. But hey, fuck that "finding out what actually happened" crap, let's just criticise Sony, the MPAA, Chuck Norris and the Great Pumpkin for being wankers. Because clearly the criminal can't be in the wrong.

Oh, and it's not "the plug pulled on a whole town." It's a freebie service that covered one block. But I guess that's not emotive enough. Maybe we should accuse the MPAA of killing babies as well?

I'm assuming you felt some pressing need to illustrate that you hadn't read the article. Beats me why you'd do that either.

    You made a comment.
I answered it with a quote from the article, and then I stated an opinon about what I had read in that article.
You then made a snarky, exagerrated and somewhat pointless comment that was clearly designed to irritate me (you seem to do that to people a lot. Good work).
And oh look, you then made another one.
I should have remembered that this is how GD works these days, and just closed my browser.

    Silly me.

I guess the point I was trying to make was that shit gets illegally downloaded on a regular basis through this here internet, and if you are going to pin point one town and one person for doing so and then rep remand that one person in that one town, shouldn't we all get a spanking? We're all doing it. The spanking that is.

I blame Lars Ulrich, he deserves it.

One city block of free WIFI was shut off. Big deal. If people weren't improperly using the service, they'd still have it. End of story.

I wish you guys would be more like us, in the sense that it´s ilegal to download stuff, but in reality most people don´t give a flying fuck about(unless you are selling the stuff out in the open). Heh, a friend of mine who btw is a cop, got my psp "fixed" so it can play pirated games and he knows several other cops who do the same thing.

As if noone would have pirated copies. But I keep it this way: I always buy the real good stuff. The stuff I download, I wouldn't have bought either. For example: All my PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games are originals and I have many original DVD movies and only few downloaded movies. Everyone else I know has terabytes of only pirated warez.

So, in your mind, if you're not willing to pay for something, it's OK to just take it anyway? Personally, I think Lexus automobiles are overpriced.

Blah blah blah it's not the same thing blah blah blah

Blah Blah blah stealing is stealing blah blah blah

Blah blah blah it's not stealing nobody loses anything blah blah blah

Blah blah blah you don't own the copyright blah blah blah

Blah blah blah everyone else does it do it's OK blah blah blah

This thread title reminds me of that racist character in that one episode of Monk.

"He is ruining America for everybody!"

Except the problem is that only ONE PERSON downloaded ONE MOVIE (according to the article) but now EVERYBODY on the block has to suffer the consequences. That's where people's cries of "over-fucking-reaction" are coming from.

Find the kid who broke the law and punish him. No problem there. Punishing everybody else is just flatout stupid.
