.Morlun and Spiderman get in one of the biggest all-out brawls I've seen in a while. They fight all over the city: At the Daily bugle offices, at the chemistry lab that gave him his spider-powers, and then in the streets. The depiction of this fight is awesome. Especially the scene where Spiderman rams Morlun with a truck! The fight goes both ways until the end when Morlun RIPS OUT SPIDERMAN'S FRICKIN LEFT EYE! And then he eats the eye and says it's "delicious." At the end of the issue Spiderman is lying in the street, apparently near death. Love this "The Other" series. Can't wait for the next installment!:thumb

I'm thinking (and hoping) that what ever this evolution Spidey will go through in the upcoming issues will fix his eye. I'm still shocked by that. Spidey put up a pretty good fight with Morlun through-out this issue, but that ending was definitely a shock...

I'm thinking the whole "Evolution" thing will fix the eye, but from rumors Pete is going to be getting a boosted healing factor(as if he doesn't have one already).

    A disgusting turn in events!

I think I'll pick this one up! Hehe, I think Spidey can somewhat relate to Wolvy now.;)

Wow, haven't been following Spiderman for a while, but this arc sounds interesting. I'll have to pick up some issues when my local comic shop has it's holiday sale.

maybe Marvel will be nice and release this mini-series/arc in its own TPB (wouldnt suprise as they are TPB-happy here lately). I haven't followed Spidey (other than Ultimate) in damn near 10 years (evidenced by the fact I have no idea who Morlun is...) so this'll be a new one for me.

Okay, this sounds interesting. Still, I'm not going to invest any of my time in reading a storyline where Aunt May wears Iron Man armor.

I haven't read Spider-Man since the Clone Saga, but have been paying attention to various spoiler threads regarding this 'The Other' arc. Out of curiousity, were the Avengers involved in this battle at all? It would seem that if Spider-Man's having a difficult fight, spanning the whole city, against a nigh-unstoppable villain, that he'd call in his team for support before it got to the point where he ends up maimed. Or did the writers use the usual "uhh, the Avengers weren't around...because they're in space...or something" tactic?

Given how things usually work in comics, I'll given this a year before Spiderman has his eye back and this story is never spoken of again.

The other Avengers were not present, but the story didn't indicate why. But during the fight while Spiderman was being beaten he was thinking to himself, "I wouldn't mind an assist from Ironman right now...Any Avenger really...Even the Wasp. ..." And the fight while being large, happened rather quickly so I could see the other Avengers not arriving in time to help. They can't be everywhere.

    But Wolverine could. :lol

Anyways, I think I'll pick up the first few issues of Friendly Neighbhorhood Spidey to see what all the commotion is about.

    Fixed.

Seriously though, it's good to see Spider-Man, and the writer, at least remembers that he's on a team now (even though it's hard to tell from those lines whether he signalled the other Avengers or is just hoping they show up). Surprised Spidey didn't just try to lead Morlun to Avengers HQ and get some back-up that way, but he probably had his reasons. Hopefully, when Spider-Man shows up for the next Avengers meeting with an eye-patch, some of these issues will be addressed.

I thought this issue freakin' rocked. I may invest in the trade of this story comes out, even though it means giving Pat Lee money.

In the last scene of the issue, was I the only one reminded of the death of Superman?

Actually the last page looked exactly like the cover to Spiderman #97 or whatever the final chapter of "Gathering of Five" was before everything was relaunched.
