Check. This. Out. Amazing photo of the Sun… | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine
Thats just crazy...
Gives me an odd sense of pseudo-scale... Amazing...
I'd show you pics of a really good full moon, but I don't think it would be appropriate.
Humph. Figured it would've been bigger.
#Obvious joke is obvious#
That doesn't even look real. It looks like someone took a photo of a yellow ball. Weird.
A lot of space photos give that unreal quality. Oshitconspiracy
I've been getting back into astronomy lately. Loved it as a kid, oddly enough. Most kids have their dinosaur phase, I dug stars. [/nerd] This is pretty neat.
They really do. I am constantly amazed by some, then strangely underwhelmed yet fascinated by others.
I mean, the sheer size is eye opening for sure, but there it is. A big yellow ball. No solar flares, discoloration. Just one big uniform looking ball.
To me it just looked like the universe was going to get a 'roll-back' price.
link is down XD
the webiste works fine for me
Yeah, the link is workin fine for me as well. That's a werid looking image of the sun.

Bizarre...a lot of photoshop and camera filters had to be used to make the sun an even yellow, yellow in the first place, and actually have a shadow on itself...but apparently it's real? Neat I guess.
okay its working now my computer must have had a brain fart, and that is an amazing picture
Also, when I opened this thread the first time I briefly thought the thread title was referring to the picture of vector sigma
meh it is just a picture of a gumball..
Now that's just down-right freaky.
That can't be real.
I've seen tons of photos of the sun that look like this. They pretty much erase the flames and stuff so that they can get a clear look.
Yeah, I saw this earlier on Universe Today. Pretty cool.
