So far the Xbox 360 core system is winning with 84.3% of the votes, next highest is 8%. The system will be offered for $100 on Thursday November 23rd (Thanksgiving) starting at 11AM PST. I may just buy a 360 at that price. Getting the HDD is like another $100 on top of that though isnt it? =(
What the fuck are they thinking???? Sure its only 1,000 units, but I doubt the wholesale cost of an XBox 360 has come down much. So they are going to lose well over $100,000 on this. Then again, it is Amazon....but damn!
They're just trying to draw traffic to their site. They figure the more people do it the more people they'll have buying at their site. Target did stuff like that in the past by selling Cases of Pepsi/Coke products for $4. We would lose a ton of money but make up for it by actually having more people come into the store and purchase things.
Plus, you figure a lot of people buying the system will pick up extra cables, controllers, hard drives, memory cards, games, etc. Things people may not otherwise buy from Amazon because they can get them locally, but would be more than willing to throw into an order out of convenience.
Well if I am around a computer when they go on sale....I'll try it. But fuck buying anything else from them, I want to screw them over!!!!
Did anyone succeed in grabbing one of these...? Essentially, at 10:57, Amazon.com became bombarded by everyone in the world with an internet connection - I wasn't even able to refresh the page until 11:08, by which time all 360's were gone.
I refreshed every five seconds, it kept saying come back at 11, until after one refresh it was completely gone. It sold out in about 1 second. I never even saw it up for sale. The site never failed, though. HTS should take a lesson from amazon.
I refreshed at exactly 11:00 and managed to see the "Purchase this item" or something like that icon. I click it and it asks me what 16+9 is. I type 25 hit enter, and then I got the "Sorry this item is no longer available" message. God damn does that ever piss me off.
