Am I weird for loving that "new toy smell" when you open up your MISB or MIP toys?

I find it addicting to completely sniff out that "brand new toy smell" whenever I open my Transformers out of the box or packaging off the card. There's nothing more refreshing. I used to even do this as far back as the original G1 toys.

Am I weird for enjoying this or do others have the same habit?

Yes, you are very VERY weird for this. What a psycho freak.

I do this with video games. Love that smell. Ahhhhhhh.

It's the one thing I still remember most about opening up the old Kenner Star Wars toys back in the day. Good memories...

The only good toy smell is G1 and RiD rubber tire smell. All others are just "chemical-y".

Yeah, much like with a new car, I absolutely love that smell of freshness. However, in a new car, it's the smell of preservatives and oil used for the plastic and is toxic to breathe for extended periods of time. I just hope it's not the same for figures.

Actually the "new car smell" these days is not toxic fumes anymore. Quite a few years ago the industry dumped the chemical treatments that created new car smell and went with a safer solution. The smell that is now in cars actually is an artificial manufactured smell that literally comes out of a spray can called "new car smell" that they apply to make sure it has the right smell people expect when they get in the car. The dealers felt it was difficult to sell new cars that didn't smell new.

Well, I've been enjoying the smell of new toys for years and I'm pretty confident in my lack of brain damage. :)  But, would I know it if I had it?

New plastic anything tends to smell really good, as well as new collectible card game cards. That smell is even better. I could sniff it for days. <.<
